Hi i have been admitted in both schools and have to decide before may 1st. While at nyu I am receiving a around $42000 per year it still does not cover the whole tuition (plus their tuition goes up every year); at Macaulay I get a free four year ride. I plan to study either electrical or software engineering; however, I am not a 100% sure. Please if any one can advise me in this decision I will greatly appreciate it!
Are they both ABET accredited?
Which NYU school is this? Is this what used to be polytechnic in Brooklyn? Not familiar. If it used to be called polytechnic then I would do a search under its old name.
Congratulations, but Macaulay Honors is not a full ride. It is full tuition plus some other perks. They do not include room and board. If you plan to enroll in Macaulay and live at CCNY, you should factor in around $20,000/yr for this expense. That’s not a typo, room and board at CCNY is VERY expensive.
Yea both are abet accredited. And yes tandon was called NYu poly.
I will be living at home so I won’t live at ccny.
Also people have been telling me that Nyu is a much bigger name therefore internships and jobs will be easier as they are partnered with big companies and has a better reputation while city with Macaulay still counts as public education.
Only did a little bit of research because my kid was interested in Engineering but did not apply to either.
NYU Poly was purchased a few years ago by NYU so while your degree will be from NYU you will be at a different campus with a different experience than the typical liberal arts NYU student. Have you visited both schools? Spent the day in class and on campus? How happy do the students seem? Maybe talk to the career counseling at both to get job placement rates.
Macaulay is considered by some to be the most prestigious program in all of SUNY and CUNY and is well known in the New York Area. Is it less or more than NYU I cannot say. I have no idea about engineering specifically but Macaulay routinely turns down top students.
