I am posting this info so that others like me see the kind of person that can get accepted at NYU. I applied regular decision so that I could compare Financial Aid packages from other schools. I applied to 5 schools - and accepted to all but one. My top 2 schools - NYU Tisch and Emerson offered healthy pkgs. SAT = 1720; GPA 3.5 (with 2 AP courses); no ECs; 4 yrs of volunteering; but mostly a really good portfolio. I had two essays and a TV comedy script. Additionally, I was offered a $18K scholarship from Emerson; and a full scholarship from NYU. I also emphasized my focus on writing (getting some things accepted into print).
I am also interested in Creative writing. want to write for TV, comedy is an interest. A junior now, trying to find the best schools to apply to. Emerson , Tisch, NYU are the only 3 that I know are good undergrad schools with this major. UCLA is on my list but seems MFA is better here, but I figure contacts would be good at UCLA. There isn’t an IVY that seems to have enough undergrad concentration and would prefer to avoid the MFA to work and save $. Suggestions for other schools? GPA 3.7 will have 4 AP when I graduate. National Honor Society.
There’s Eckerd and Kenyon, long known for its program. I don’t know about tv or comedy writing.
Emerson is pretty good (though I had a friend who said it was like “high school” so he left), Ithaca, Chapman in Southern California.
He got into Emerson and Loyola Marymount in ca. He chose emenerson. Can you find out in what way they treat you like high school
