Javeb/ I called them around April 9th. they check my folder. Everything was there. Do u think I have to check again in case?

Probably not, but if you want to be extra sure, I would call. Earlier in the month when I called they would check things for me, but lately because they’re really busy they won’t go check on things. One of the clerks told me “If I checked on everyone’s individual folders I would never get anything done”. So, I think at this point they’re just really busy, but if you want to make sure your recommendations are there, I would call. The woman I talked to made it seem like NYU could maybe make a decision based just off your app and transcripts because she was saying that only if they decided they needed to read your recs and they weren’t there that they would email you. Huh…

Javeb/ Well I hope they read my Rec which is really great. I got one from my Psychology prof. It’s very detail and strong Rec. I got another one from dean of my school with College Official’s report whatever name is. Last one is from my favorite English class. those three maximize my chance of getting into the Gallatin though

For those in New York, did you send your material personally to 655 broadway 11th floor? The office is not open to the public, but they give a small hole for us to submit our document. Did I send everything to the right place??? It seems that most submit it to the welcome centre, but not the office

Jadetransfer/ I live in NY city but I sent it by usps. It took a day to deliver to 655 Broadway. Because they don’t accept personally on the 11th floor

When I called to ask where to deliver things in person they said the Welcome Center.

so people are still waiting on decisions? i’m actually envious of you. NYU asked for my deposit by may 1st which is completely undoable for me. I’m guessing you guys get a later deposit deadline then?

I have to deposit by the 1st also. Has anyone called and tried to get an extension? How did that go?

I think nyu is trying to release another round of decisions based on how many people confirmed with them by May 1st.

Stryke, I called for an extension and they gave me until May 15th (postmarked)

Just called to check on my file and thankfully the lady said it’s complete and currently under review. That’s a relief…

How long did it take for you to get through the line? I’ve been on the line for no less than an hour. Should I hang up and recall or just keep on waiting?

That’s weird, I got right through wth maybe a total of 10 seconds of being on hold.

I recalled and had been waiting for another 15 to 20 minutes. What’s wrong with the line? Should I recall AGAIN?

what number are you calling? Try (212) 998-4500 if that isn’t what you’ve been calling. I had problems with a different number I was calling before, but once I called that it took maybe 10 seconds

Don’t hang up–you’ll just lose your place in line.

This morning I was on hold for 40 minutes, and when someone finally answered, and I explained that another school hadn’t received my faculty rec and I was hoping she could check whether NYU received it, she told me that she “didn’t have the ability to do that.” I was persistent, but polite, and tried to explain why this was important, and couldn’t she check my file, etc. She hung up on me mid-sentence (completely unnecessary–I never raised my voice or said anything hostile).
Thankfully, my father is a living saint, and since I had to be at school all day he called and just reported that they were all in. Whew.

If you’re going to call, prepare to be dogged, and to waste half of your day. Good luck, all!

That’s the one I’ve been calling. They recommended me to call later around 4 to 5 Eastern Time or early in the morning. Sort of stressed out and on the verge of a breakdown.

Thanks lioninwinter.

I’ve got a big Western Civilisations paper due tomorrow and this is too time-consuming. I doubt calling tomorrow after school would make much of a difference in the decisions process. Thank you guys.

Omg…re you guys kidding? I can’t send in my material to 655 11th floor personally?? I did that. Where did they mention I couldn’t do that? On top of the mail bos on 11th floor, they say put ur material here…

Jade/ Actually u can do that. But not by visiting there. I sent all my materials to 655 Broadway 11th Floor. It delivered. When I called them they had my materials

jadetransfer, all I know is when I called that’s what they told me to do. I would call admissions and ask them if that was alright. And then obviously call in a few days to make sure they got there. Best of luck.
