Chinese applicant here!

Here as well! Which school did you apply to?

Haha sorry I meant Singaporean-chinese :)

NUS? Wow, that’s amazing! Which school and stats??

my dad graduated from NUS, ha.

CAS, Major in International Relations. I did Cambridge ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels then entered NUNS. My college grades are counted really differently from the US universities even though we somewhat have a GPA-equivalent system. So I really don’t know how the admissions people will see my app? (NUS is considered a US-style school though)

In junior college (pre-u) I was vice-pres of student council and in the dance club. Represented the school for pre-university seminar and cambridge summer school. I’m currently into my second semester in NUS, majoring in Political Science, and in the dance club!

I think the cultures of NUS and NYU are polar extremes and whatever is the norm in US is mostly not over here and vice versa. Hence, I’m quite worried. :)

Oh I did do SATS I though, got a score of 2090.

I did the Cambridge A levels too! 8 A’s. what about you?

I applied to Stern. My SAT score is relatively mediocre: 2060 :(

Everyone asks for midterm grades, not just Stern…

im a junior transfer to Stern, international, Chinese, but in US college. They didn’t ask for my midterms but shoot me an email yesterday saying everything is complete and is under review.

spores, you are from singapore. You probably did everything right. haha. Oh and isnt there an NYU campus in singapore? Your location would probably help.

hooked, you got 8As, what are you doing in canada? You shouldve applied to the uk and saved yourself the headache!

I never wanted to go to the UK. So, when I was rejected by all the Ivies, I decided to go to McGill (scholarship) and transfer to a better U.S. university after a year. I hope the 8 A’s help in the transfer process!

@hookedongtown - I didn’t know you went to McGill. What don’t you like about it?

Everything actually. I’ve posted about it numerous times but i’ll re-list:

-too big. can be annoying to be referred to as a number (you never write names on quizzes, exams or assignments!)
-too cold.
-the faculty works against your better interests.
-no advising whatsoever.
-the grading scale is ridiculous! my first year econ class average is 58%!
-no residence after first year.
-too many commuters makes making friends difficult.
-all that there is to do is drink. fun at first but then it just gets downright depressing.
-no opportunities to intern anywhere nice. (everything’s in Toronto)
-the french kids are downright stupid but think they’re better than everyone else.
-the bilingualism means you can never work around campus.
-you NEVER need to attend class. it will make no difference to your grade at all.

i could go on but i guess you get my gist :p

Hey, is anyone here applying for the steinhardt nutrtion program? Or know anyone that is? Or steinhardt’s general transfer acceptance rate?

Good luck to everyone!

I heard that Steinhardt is friendly to transfer students
and its acceptance is usually higher that other departments
so it actually depends on majors
I’m applying for Steinhardt, Art and Art professions
but will change my major to psychology :)

That’s good to hear! I haven’t heard of ANYONE applying for nutrition, so I guess maybe it’s just an unpopular major there…

I have a 3.7 GPA in college (I’m a sophmore now). Here’s to hoping I get in!

I actually applied for Summer 2010, but there’s no thread for that, so I’m joining here! I think we’re all in the same pool anyway, but I wonder if Summer students hear first (just because the first summer session starts on May 17th…) Who knows.

Hey Everyone. I applied to SCPS as a fall 10 transfer for hospitality management. Does anyone know about the acceptance rate for it or have any information about this program?

I recently just got accepted for CAS. My major is Neural Science, but they haven’t sent the financial aid package yet.
I probably won’t go if there’s a crazy amount of loans

It’s so odd - last year’s transfer thread had so many more posts by this point in time. Any chance that there were fewer transfer applicants in the Fall 2010 pool? I know that the CC crowd is not generally indicative of the average applicant pool, but hey - a girl can be hopeful, right? Congrats, @Firebird91! Anyone get into Steinhardt, yet?
