NYU vs Columbia vs Northwestern

I going to manhattan college this fall, but i want to transfer my sohpmore year. I'm going for journalism, so which college would be better for me.

NU's journalism is top-notch, though I hear Columbia is great as well. I don't know about NYU's but assume it's good. You should apply to all of the schools that interest you and worry about getting in. Columbia is very, very hard to get into as a transfer.

Hands down Columbia Journalism school!...

Columbia's pretty much great for anything, if you can get in there's no reason you shouldn't go.

^Exactely!..........

By the way if you're going to Manhattan College why's your name nyu44?

columbia's j-school is for grad students...

located in NY can only help for journalism...

Columbia's journalism school is a grad school. Northwestern is the way to go for undergrad.

Yet again So Authentic doesn't know what he's talking about....

wow..even the OP mentioned Columbia Journalism but the fool above didn't mention it

KK you only post on this because I'm posting; I admire how you stalk me
Yo tan soy halagado a novio

Yes Columbia's journalism school is a grad school, but in this instance Columbia's vast network would help a lot especially for internships, etc. Plus journalism is hardly a field which requires specified study, so you could conceivably just take a lot of related courses and graduate with a similar major and you'd be fine.

"KK you only post on this because I'm posting; I admire how you stalk me"

-Only because most of what you write is bs...

"Yo tan soy halagado a novio"

-De nada mi amor

Quick.... Let's see how long it takes you to edit your last post.....

"but in this instance Columbia's vast network would help a lot especially for internships, etc."

-I'm sure the same goes for all three, especially since Northwestern actually HAS an undergrad J-school.

"Plus journalism is hardly a field which requires specified study, so you could conceivably just take a lot of related courses and graduate with a similar major and you'd be fine."

-Quite true, but if you WANT to go to a j-school, Northwestern is probably the best bet of the three.

tu amor? s

"I think you're mistakinging me for a mirrored version of yourself"

-No te halagues

"but if you WANT to go to a j-school, Northwestern is probably the best bet of the three."

True, but I assumed that the OP was asking about a career in journalism, not necessarily a journalism-specific school. You really can't go wrong with either of them, my personal preference would be for Columbia though simply because it's a stronger (imho) overall school located in a city with endless internship possibilities.

-No te halagues

¿Yo no halago? realmente? tan por qué es usted tan intrigó en lo que digo?

"because it's a stronger (imho) overall school located in a city with endless internship possibilities."

-Well, I know we'll just go back and forth, but I don't think Columbia is any stronger for potential journalists than Northwestern. Northwestern's Journalism school actually has a journalism internship as a requirement for graduation - and sends students all over the country and world to complete this requirement; so, I don't believe that Columbia's location gives it much of a leg up as far as internships go. In fact, I'd say that Northwestern is better for internships as it is a REQUIRED part of the curriculum. Also, more than 30 of the 45 required credits have to be in fields OTHER than journalism, so one can get a feel for journalism AND be well-versed in other fields. The best of both worlds.

NO....I honestly think Columbia Journalism is excellent...not sure if I can compare it 2 North but the peopel I have spoken to chose columbia for journalism...I kno they're writing classes are good to so0oo0

Ooo did not know this. In that case Northwestern is probably the better choice for the OP.
