NYU vs Tufts

I currently got admissions from NYU and Tufts.
And I want to major in Economics, later MBA or Law school.

Which would be better choice for me to be prepared, after 4 years of studies, to get into Harvard Business school or other prestigious MBAs. Which would be a better choice for me to get good grades and be helpful academically? (forget about student life and etc.)

I love the metropolitan ambience of NY city, and numerous job opports.,
but I think Boston also has, to some extent, urban feelings and chances to experience my field ahead of graduation. I heard 98% of Tuftonians, successfully move on to other graduate schools, unlike students at NYU.

Expenses are similar(I am sure about this, looked up thoroughly).

Which would be better, to transfer (during undergrade) to Ivys, or to move on to brilliant MBAs? or Laws schools?

If you're seriously looking into getting into a top grad school...then I say Tufts.

Since they are both similar, the decision should be handed down to statistics although I would not entirely put my faith in them. The outlook of the school is also important. Try visiting both of them, and not look at their "photo-shopped and glossy" photos.

rsongsnu, on what basis do you make the statement that NYU students dont go to top grad schools?

For starters, the best route to a top MBA program is through a few years of OJT (on the job training) in a business-related position.

Second, do I get a sense that you are, like so many high schoolers, considering doing ECs yet again for the sole purpose of resume padding? Geez, I am sure your future co-workers will love you.

Third, there is a signficant over-supply of MBAs, so unless you are at the very top of the heap you will likely end up in a job where a simple accounting/econ undergrad degree would have taught you everything you need to know.

IR is one of Tufts' strengths, and should be a good foundation for a career in business. The great liberal arts education will come in handy should you change your mind about business.

A note on expenses: At Tufts, you'll be on a campus and probably go to parties in dorms. You'll go to events through your school. At NYU, you'll probably be paying every time you go out, because there isn't much of a campus. Factor in Bway shows (great, but expensive), higher rent, restaurants, and the cost of going to clubs. This stuff makes a difference too!!
