you can take the metra train. or i believe the purple line goes there as well...or the pink some "girly color". im leaning towards purple.

Definitely the purple line. (To Northwestern, come on. :)) If you manage to get on the purple line, and anyone should be willing to help you, get off at Davis. From Davis, you can just walk pretty much in a straight line and you'll run into campus.

im going on memories of me living in chicago when i was 12 >.>

Well, I'm going off memories from March.

Sooooo I guess it's understandable.

Is the transfer in Chicago from the blue line pretty easy?
Also, does anyone have experience with teh Pace Bus? #250?

if you're using CTA, take the blue line downtown towards the loop, then transfer to a northbound (linden) purple line train...
a cab would be faster, probably, though the train would be considerably cheaper.

Thanks, I appreciate the fast replies :D

Well, I heard a cab to NU wouldn't be too expensive; maybe $30 or so.

DO NOT USE PUBLIC TRANSIT unless you want to spend 2 hours riding into the city and transferring stations. Plus, it's winter outside.

Use the Airport Express shuttle vans which have available booths in the baggage claims. They always make trips to Northwestern campus. They gather a group of students, pack them in the van, and drop them off at various dorm locations. The fares may have increased (I paid $20-ish when I was still in college) from O'Hare to Evanston. This is the best deal if you want to head to your dorm quickly.

Or you could use the cab (make sure they serve the Evanston area). The fare would cost around $25-30.

Maybe I'm just odd but i find public transit to be very relaxing and a great way to see sights in Chicago. That being said it's probably not the most efficient way to get to evanston for sure.

Taking trains is definitely doable but takes a very long time. Taxis from O'Hare to Evanston are now about $40.

The bottom line is the OP should use the Airport Express or a taxi to get to the campus.

Riding the train is nice during the spring and summer. It's ridiculously cold around this time of year.

take the monorail thing (or walk) to terminal S I think, or P? something after terminal 5.. it will say parking and buses (kiss n' fly). The kiss n' fly aka route 250 is what you want to take, it runs from early morning until fairly late at night so you shouldn't have to check the bus schedule (I never do). It's 2 dollars and will get you to the davis CTA, which is the last stop so you won't miss it. Even if you fall asleep as I usually do, the bus driver will conveniently yell at you to get off.

be careful though, I've missed a flight home once because it took over 2 hours one day to get from davis to the airport using this method. if time=money for you, take a $30 cab.

i would taxi that b****

Isn't that the purple express? If it's not running, then you'd have to take the blue line to the loop, then the red line to Howard, then the purple line into Evanston.

A cab costs ~$40.

if you don't have any qualms about public transportation, the Pace 250 bus runs from O'Hare to the Davis CTA station (they are the first and last stops on the route) and costs $1.50... It beats cab in terms of fare and saves a lot of time over a train through the Loop. Only thing is some people have trouble finding their way to the monorail and bus stop, but it's really not hard.

Does NU provide any type of shuttle bus to the airports at the major travel dates like start of school, end of quarter, Christmas and Spring breaks ?

I know many schools do this and it seems that it would be useful to provide a bus making a continues loop to Midway and O'hare on those 4 or 5 days a year when a substantial number of students will be traveling.

LOVE the pace 250 bus. $1.50 is cheaper than the el, and faster! haha i am clearly VERY enthusiastic about the bus. but really, it is great. and there's always students on it around breaks going to/from the airport

Elrod: NU should start doing this if it doesnt. Public transport to from evanston sucks. I know that at MIT you give them your arrival info on the new student website and current students, mostly frat guys, meet the flights and drive you to your dorm. Nice when you have a lot of stuff and dont know where youre going.
