@lexluthor5 Don’t give up hope yet. I called the Admissions office and they said that financial aid will not be ready until tomorrow sometime. I haven’t seen the acceptance letter, but they said that there was a small blurb at the bottom saying that.
Can someone share how to get into the applicant portal? My D and I can’t figure it out.
@anxiousdad53 we didn’t see anything on that other portal where some people are seeing a note about merit aid. Either way, she’s already eliminated Oberlin, so it doesn’t really matter other than for ego.
@lexluthor5 understood it doesn’t matter for you, but it might for others. I believe that Presto (the financial aid website) is not complete yet. I believe that was their point.
We did not show any interest at all. Never visited, emailed or interviewed. I don’t think that mattered.
@anxiousdad53 excellent point.
accepted!!! I was a questbridge applicant so thats $62k a year out of the $66k, im so happy!! i was so worried because i didnt even know what PRESTO was…
Is merit aid only in PRESTO? Or does it also say in acceptance letter? Congrats to all accepted!
@TytoAlba it can definitely make the difference in some cases, I have no doubt about that.
My D had the same results as you, @etsy98. However, she got into USC Thornton today so that makes this a little easier to take.
There was no mention of merit aid on my son’s letter. Only saw it in Presto. A letter is supposed to arrive in mail. My son showed some interest – went to campus once and went to meeting at his high school. Guess that helped. His credentials were much weaker than what people posted who got rejected or waitlisted. But he’s not going so hopefully one of the waitlisted people get in.
Wondering if no Presto info available for those who applied for FA (as opposed to those who did not AND got merit awards)?
Rejected with a 32 ACT, 3.98 UW GPA, excellent essays, and excellent recs. I have no clue what Oberlin was looking for, but it obviously wasn’t me. I’ve gotten into UCLA, UCSD, UMich, DePaul Honors, and UW-Madison, but actually was very interested in Oberlin. Oh well, I love my other options, so it’s Oberlin’s loss.
I was accepted into the conservatory for percussion with a 24,000 Conservatory Dean’s Scholarship!
Congrats @girlofpercussion !! Are you going to go?
@choirsandstages Thank you so much, and I think so! They gave me a really generous financial aid package.
@girlofpercussion that’s wonderful! I just assume you have other good options since you’re obviously talented!! Best wishes for your future at Oberlin!!
Rejected with 33 ACT, 3.63 UW GPA. Oberlin was high on my list, but my top choice is URochester and I’ve already gotten in… of course today I found out that I’m not getting enough FA to attend so this is not great.
Waitlisted. Would it help if I sent another recommendation, wrote a letter to them or sent a current transcript with updated grades (like they suggested in the decision letter)?
rrjected international, asked for a lot of aid. sat 2190, okay essays, gpa 3.3, good ECs (student council, club president, head of committees, etc)
im a little bummed bc i did want to go but i got into macalester, a school of equal interest, so its not such a big blow. good luck everyone and congrats to those accepted!!
@choirsandstages Thank you for such kind words.
