Is it possible to, say, attend Occidental for my freshman year, and then apply and transfer to USC? Do they have any special programs like community colleges do? Is there something I can do to almost ensure my transfer to SC by taking special classes…etc?

Oxy is a great school and getting better. But if you have your heart set upon USC then just go to a com. college. Oxy is a lot of money and it is a waste when all you want is to transfer.

Yea unfortunately Oxy would have been my second choice...actually it still IS my second choice, first is SC. If I don't get off the waitlist of Oxy, and if my USC appeal doesn't work out, CC...HERE I COME! :(

Hopefully I will see you at oxy.

That would be nice, watson. :)

Tomorrow I will find out if I got into USC. Maybe it still won't even come. I doubt I did. From what I am hearing I should receive a reject letter because it is so late. You never know though, USC is really weird with admissions. I had someone I know closely who attended USC for undergrad and law school write me a letter. He sent it directly to the admissions office and the dean of USC, who is his good friend. I guess that did nothing. So at least it is a good sign for us that connections don't always work. I would like to say it is all about stats, but clearly it cannot be. We have seen hor sporadic these acceptances have been in terms of grades and sat scores.

I think you mean erratic?

There is a huge gulf between Oxy, USC and community college. At least with CC you could transfer to UC but if you have a safety 4 year I think that is a better route to take.

One question: Why did you apply to Oxy if you had no intention of going there for all four years? If you liked Oxy enough to apply, then you must have had some solid reasons for doing so. Otherwise, you could have saved yourself the cost of the Oxy application and just said "hmmm....if I don't get into USC, I'll just go to CC." Of course, this whole point is moot since you are only on the waiting list for Oxy and have not yet been accepted. Oxy is a hot school so the chances of getting pulled off the wait list may be slimmer than you think. What are your other choices?

erratic and sporadic.

Hey guys, I dont have that much time, Ive started my appeal and have turned my school upside down with everything I can think of. Ill get back to all of you when I have a minute to breathe. :)
