October 15 Deadline

Copy and paste from what I sent FSU admission's office

"A few months back I misread a forwarded e-mail my college advisement counselor sent me from FSU. It said that the Admissions Office would accept October SAT scores, but I must have misread or not noticed the part where it mentioned that I would need at least an earlier score submitted by the October 15 deadline to receive a decision on December 8, even if I had all the other information submitted.

This was completely my fault for not being more careful with my reading of the admissions process, but I know that applicants for the second notification have a lower chance of acceptance due to space limitations.

FSU is one of my top schools and it would be terrible if my admittance was risked due to a small mistake on my part. Is there any way that I can be notified on December 8?

Thank you for your time."

I've heard that its a lot harder to get in after this deadline. I think I had a good chance for the first, the second one not so much.
So I'm wondering if anyone knows how lenient FSU is with things like these so I can either stop freaking out, or give up and move on.

It has been FSUs policy that you must have at least a set of SAT scores by the deadline to have updated scores considered that reach them after the deadline. Did you not take any SAT or ACT prior to Oct 15? Even a set from junior year? Or ACT scores? Even if you did not submit them, if there is a set of scores on your transcript or FACT.org you will be OK. If you never ever sat for the exam before the deadline, your application will not be considered for the first group based on prior year experience and current published policy.

What exactly does your application status say online when you sign in? Does it say a decision will be available Dec 8th? What are your stats?

I see you posted your stats on the UF page. You are likely in for FSU, but it appears it is not your first choice.

Its not my first choice, but its not my safety either. FSU is my second choice. I took the SAT in January 2010 also. On the status check it says "Your application for admission is ready for review. "

Thanks for clearing that up about the scores being on my transcript. I was really worried for a second.

If you attend a public school and the transcripts are available via the state online system, they will have them. If they are printed on a written official copy they will have them. Some school DO NOT LIST THEM due to privacy concerns.

BUT, if your status does not say " a decision will be available Dec 8th" then there may be a problem. I believe that at this point in time, those getting a decision on Dec 8th should have a status that says just that–“an admission decision will be available De3cember 8th.” I would call or email and flat out ask if you will have a decision Dec 8th or not. They will NOT tell you any decision but they will tell you if you will get one on the 8th.

It didn’t say anything about Dec. 8, so I called and talked to an admissions counselor who helped me out and said I would be notified on Dec. 8

Thanks for your help!

Great!!! …
