October 17!!!!

I just wanted to make a thread for people who are taking the SSAT in like 3 days!!! Who's nervous? What did you guys study??? Just post comments thoughts and questions here good luck to everyone!!!!

mine is in december 12. god. im so scared. >.<
NEED TO STUDY LIKE HELL.
SO SCARED.

Ey,
My SSAT is this Saturday too, its like 5 minutes away from where I live so its not very far.
I mean I prepared pretty well so I’m not really worried or scared, I took several practice tests, and I usually hit around 2330(worst case scenario)-2400(BEST BEST case scenario).
For people’s reference, I prepared with PR book, Kaplan’s book, and Peterson’s book. I am strongly urging all to buy the PR and Peterson’s because PR has lots of info and strategies, while Peterson’s has plenty of problems to do.

And uhh, express what year are you applying to and what grade are you in? And what schools are you applying to?

I’m applying to Andover, Exeter, Hotchkiss, Deerfield, and Lawrenceville for '10-'11 as a freshman.

sorry for getting back so late I was studying…how did it go ccer999? Did you get the question in the last math section about the editior who did something with one third of his sumbitions??? What was the answer? I think I did horribly one the reading so I’ll defientely take it again. Hope you don’t have to lol I am applying for the same year sophomore spot and I haven’ decided where I am exactly applying, I will tell you when I do.

crap that reminds me I MAY have gotten that wrong

I said 1 1/3 because 1/3 are useless or whatever

but 1/3 of 1 1/3 = 1? I dont Think so CRAP!!!

I was thinkging 1 1/3 - 1/3 = 1

Did anyone get it?

Well I had like 1 minute left when I answered it so I was kind of rushed but o well.

I’m almost positive I got the rest correct

What did you get for the library question? The one that said - (insert name Here) lives 12 blocks from the library and (insert name here) lives 3 blocks away from the library. Whats the distance between their houses. I said the answer couldn’t be determined with the information because wouldn’t you need to know what direction they live in from the library. If the first person lives to the west of the library and the second person lived to the east of the library, the total distance would be 15 but if they both lived to the west then the answer would be 9. Hopefully you guys understand my horrible writing :)

Yeah that’s what I got too but if it the answer was three you would have to subtract one from three and that would equal 2 which would not be the right answer but whatever! I said that it could not be determined because I remembered this question in the offical ssat book and that was the answer i omitted like 4 of the questions and the reading was soooo hard but if my scores are not good then I’ll take it again =)

2 wrong in math is still in high 700’s and 90’s for %???

I think that may all that I got wrong or maybe I’m giving myself a false sense of security and I got a 500

That question is actually 1.5, try plugging in numbers, you’ll get the answer. Look at this.
He wants 6 magz, so he buys 9, and 1/3 of 9 is 3, so three go to waste, and he has 6 left.
And yeah, that lib. one couldn’t be determined, I remem. the question too.
Personally, I thought the editor one was easy.

Also, I was confused on the angle problem where it was like y=2w, what is the value of x in terms of y?

Bump   :)

I’m taking it on December 12th too, schoolgirlieusa, I’m applying to andover and exeter. I am really nervous, but I am preparing.

what are some ?'s they asked and will the test yall took be the same as a later one

I’m just guessing that they will change the tests just because a person could have remembered the ones he/she were iffy on and study for those particular ones, which wouldn’t be the best idea.

I guess certain people look at the math problems a different way. I found the angle thing to be easy, I just had to go back and look at the problem again, while I had trouble with the editor one.

Sigh :frowning: results came in the mail.
Verbal 778 97%
Math: 782 94%
Reading: 738 96%
Overall: 2298 98%

I think I can improve and hopefully bring up my score to 2300+ because I messed up and was nervous on the SSAT.
December 12, here I come :).

ccer, don’t be daft. Unless the only thing you wrote for your essay was “I like cheese.” send those scores and concentrate on the other parts of your app. With your scores in the upper 90’s, you’re almost just as likely to do worse than better. It’s only a matter of a one, maybe two more correct answers and that could just come down to luck, especially in math and reading.

You don’t like those scores they are amazing!!! Great job!!! How many did you get wrong and omit for each one of the sections???

Also for the math section what answer did you get for the editor one and for the one about how there 5 taxies the answers were 6, 18, 21 and 2 other choices what did you get?

Math-4 wrong 0 omitted
Reading- 3 wrong 1 omitted
Verbal- 10 wrong 3 omitted :(

I got 21 for the taxi cab one.
Editor one was 1.5. I’ll show you why.
If editor wants 6 magazines, he’ll buy 9, right. Then, 1/3 go to waste, so there are 6 left. And now he got the number of magazines that he wanted.
