October 2010 US History

I thought I specifically read that in my notes yesterday, so I was happy it came up on the test. Phew. I know I skipped two. Hopefully I don’t get more than 5 wrong :)

@wildandyoung: waht was the right answer for the Amory show and the patronage one?

the alger one was about the self-made man?

the populist party was about unrealistic goals of a party made up of fractions

I don’t think that’s right Eis. Nothing from the picture implied that.

Actually, if you read the message on the balloon basket (i don’t know what they call the carriage part of the balloon) as well as the captioning, you’ll notice what the cartoonist is saying. To me, the cartoonist is stating that the balloon is going to fall apart. Beside, the Populist Party struggled to get any votes due to their conflicting interests.

What did the caption say?

I can’t remember exactly, but I remember that was the exact reason why I chose unrealistic goals…

^ Hmm i don’t seem to remember but i do know that i read everything in that picture. I just thought that it was bring small parties together because of same goals because on the hot balloon it had names of all the parties like AFL and so fourth
And also I thought that Booker Washington was the guy who told blacks to become capable or something along those lines and they will be accepted into the society. Not sure about this one but thats just what i put on the test

The cartoon is here: http://img.kansasmemory.org/thumb500/00087081.jpg

“Platform of Lunacy” and “A Party of Patches” inform the answer.

that was it, “Platform of Lunacy”

I remember there was a question about some “post code reform” thing (a quote question/an ad./maybe question 5 or 6), which asked who would be most indifferent to the reform? Does anyone know what was the right answer?

Edit: A. Banker B. City dweller C farmer D. small town sales people E. railway company?

And was Geraldine Ferraro the first female vice president candidate?
Thanks:)

yea ferraro was the first.
i dont remember your other question

what about the one dealing with the korean war?

Oh… by the way, I still wonder which one is right for the Ku Klux Klan cartoon?
(One with two man hanged)

Thanks aryus!
Korean war? Any more details?

It wasn’t who would be indifferent, it was who would like it the least. The quote was about the beginning of big corporate superstores. Who likes those the least? Farmers, railroad owners, two other random choices, or small town store owners?

[Let me google that for you](http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Was+Geraldine+Ferraro+the+first+female+vice+presidential+candidate%3F)

One of the men hanged had “Ohio” on his bag, so I thought it was about trying to stop Ohio from entering the Union.

I think it was “The Korean War differed from the Vietnam War in all of the following ways EXCEPT:”, but I’m not sure.

i remember now, it was the small store owners who wouldn’t like it.

for the KKK cartoon, it was carpetbaggers.

the korean war one, one of the choices was guerilla warfare, i chose that, the question was asking the didn’t happen or something

BillMc i dont think that was the korean war question

and here i the source for theKKK: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Kkk-carpetbagger-cartoon.jpg

Thanks BillyMc! That’s what I mean. I googled Geraldine Ferraro. It says she was the first one representing a MAJOR party…
a MAJOR party = a party?

I am for the guerilla warfare choice!

PS: I chose the carpetbagger, too.

As I said, I wasn’t sure of what the Korean War question was, but that (what you said) seems like it could have been it.

Hm, okay, I suppose I got the KKK question wrong.
