October 2011 - Math Level II

hahaha no ones answering us. I guess that would be a raw score of 40.25 which translates to a… 770 on the sparknotes table… but i want to know what people think the curve is on this testttt

does anyone remember the triangle with the cos? it was a right triangle, basically they gave you the sides. adacent over hypotenuse?

has there ever been a curve in SAT Math Level 2 history with less than 43 raw = 800?

i have a question if the raw score is abt 42.75 do they round it off to a 43?

^yes they do, they round a 42.5 to 43 as well.

can we please decide on the p is odd and >3 one? i put that p is odd & > 3 b/c i know there was some kind of a restriction on “n” value. does anyone know for a FACT what that restriction was? i dont think i was stupid enough to completely ignore that.

also, isn’t 0 not an even number? thus, (0,0) would be an anomaly to the seemingly period of 2

@anonymousx37, when n=2, P=3, so the answer couldn’t be p is odd and > 3. for that reason I only selected that p is odd

Confirmation needed:

Was the probably problem say less than or equal to 5 or just less than 5?

Or as someone says, more than lol, although Im pretty sure its not more than

0 is even, at least according to this guy:

[Math Forum - Ask Dr. Math](<a href=“Classroom Resources - National Council of Teachers of Mathematics”>Classroom Resources - National Council of Teachers of Mathematics)

yeah… i realized. i got p = 3 but i dont know why i assumed that that means p > 3 since p IS 3… -_______________-

compscigeek - it said what is the probability that it was GREATER than 5. rather than finding all the possibilities of the sum being greater than 5, it was much easier to find all the possibilities of it being 5 or lower which comes out to be .1. so 1 - .1 = .9

0 is even because it’s divisible by 2. Anything divisible by 2 is even.

For the median and mean one. 7 salaries. mean is 42000 and median is 46000. if an 8th person earning 44000 is added, shouldn’t the mean increase AND the median decrease??

like 41000, 44000, 45000, 46000, 47000, 48000, 49000

if you add 44000, the middle number would not be 46000, but (45000+46000)/2. right?! therefore median decreases.

I was really confused.

@caligirl, but you have to remember that not everyone had different salaries…

^ What CompSciGeek said.

If there are multiple people with the same salary, then adding new data may shift the median but not necessarily to a different number.

^But the mean definitely increases ;)

Is it possible that the curve will be higher this time?
Or will it stay the same? Will Raw>42=800 still?

I omitted 4 and I know that I got 2 wrong. If that was all, then I’d get an 800. However, I probably also got a couple of other problems that I overlooked wrong.

sigh i did so badly. 5 skipped 4 wrong i think… whats that bring me? 40 right? is that a 770 possibly? any chance of a 780?

I think I didn’t manage my time very well. There was 40 minutes left and I was on problem 25. Then she called 20 minutes left and i was on problem like 35. And it was 5 minutes left at problem 43. So I ended up skipping like 5 and getting 3 wrong(one of them being a silly mistake lol)
