October 2011 SAT Mathematics

Brownboi are u sure? That’s what I remember but I don’t want to get happy for nothing.

Oceanz- yeah the radius was 8

should be 2pi(4)(20) = 80pi = 502

Oceanz,

It said the DIAMETER was 8. So the radius is 4. But you could have just multiplied the given DIAMETER by pi to get the circumfrence as well.

pretty sure it went a)96pi…d)96pi+32 e)96pi+64

It asked for the surface area didn’t it? So shouldn’t you have found the Area, not the circumference?

I just skipped the cylinder one, I had no idea how to approach that problem considering it was a hollow cylinder, and was asking for area not volume.

What was the question for the grid in one that equaled 3600

3 wrong 1 omit :s

n=K^2
N divisible by 10 and 24
n is a positive integer

Shaggy,

Lateral surface area (what the question asked for) is height*circumfrence. So you actually have to find both. SO ARE WE SURE THE ANSWER 500 and not 450?

So, can anyone tell which math section was experimental yet?

One of the 20Q 25 min sections was.

Brolex, n was 3600

The cylinder problem required to to think of it as a rectangle, with the diameter as side and the height as another side. Hope this clears up confusion. Answer was 502 -> 500 rounded

alkab94:

I still don’t quite see how the two circles joined together would be a square. There aren’t any pointy edges b/c a circle is supposed to be round. Therefore, how can it be a square?

Alright. I have decided that I will retake this in January. Who’s with me?

i got a math section with a problem that was like 4x+5y+10z=3 what is x+y+z, exp?

borwnboi, that was an experimental.

lol agree with you sunshine, I didn’t see it either. I just took the area of a section which is A=n(degree of sector)/360 *(r^2)(pi), and multiplied by two which was 96pi.

Anyone know if -5 will result in higher than a 700?

The experimental math section was the 25 minute 20 question section that DID NOT have the question about the cylinder’s Lateral Surface Area being 500.

Yes it was exp

You made the square by connecting the radius to the the different points at the intersection of the circles.
