October 2011 SAT Writing

Thanx Mascara, am i right about nowherelse, shouldn’t be anywherelse.

And is 29. THAN DO correct??? I put no error.

Does anyone remember the question about the best transition from paragraph 1 to 2? It was from the skateboards in olympics section.

Panmit, “than do” is fine. The answer was “collaborate”

For the transition: I put the points were not valid, the answer had however at the end.

are you sure that was for the olympics passage? i don’t seem to remember that

yeah: The transition was that neither of Olympics reasons that skateboarding is not a olympic sport because it’s new and is dangerous. The later to paragraphs undermines the assumptions by saying skateboarding was indeed one of the oldest sports, etc.

I thought it was nowhere else because the sentence was “found nowhere else” not “not found nowhere else.”

I don’t remember reading not found nowhere else, I’m fairly certain it was “1,000 species that are found nowhere else”

anyone remember the essay prompt?

something about mistakes?

@ Deca - Do people need to learn from their mistakes?

yay for easy generic writing prompt…

Anyone remember bits and pieces of the new zealand question? trying to google.

thought the consensus earlier was “A”, being that New Zealand “HAS been” and not “HAD been” playing music since the 1900s or something

are you sure the sentence was “had been playing music since the 1990s?” I don’t think so…

i got a different essay prompt -_- , do people need discipline for freedom? ex. consitution , greekpolis

state of nature = anarchy

@CrazyPluto i could be wrong on the sentence, but people were arguing over it earlier in the cr thread and that’s what they said.

Does anyone have the exact question for the New Zealand one? I still think it was ‘that’ instead of ‘when’.

I still think no error lol.

EFF.

Also, “Unlike those of” instead of “Contrary to those” right?

was it unlike those of or contrary to those of… It was number 11 on the long writing setion
