October 2012 SAT scores 'not yet available'

1-2 business days, but I’m highly skeptical of that. It’s been 1-2 business days since they told me that last time -_-. And it’s another ‘1-2 business days’ again for the record.

Just spent half an hour on the phone with CB. It is quite clear that they were not adequately staffed to process all the forms this October in a timely manner. They hope to get through most of them by next week, or at worst in two weeks. A delay does not necessarily mean that anything was wrong with your test or that your score had a big increase; they just didn’t have enough people to process all the forms.

They are unwilling to give out unofficial scores or to allow you to talk to the people with the score forms because I assume they have focused those people to work on getting the scores validated and logged in (and not to spend time taking calls from us all). They will not prioritize any students who urgently need scores today or next week because there are too many of us. They anticipate two postings next week, on Tuesday and on Thursday. If you have not gotten your score on the Thursday posting, I believe then you should be able to talk to a supervisor and request priority standing. I am not speaking on behalf of the College Board, this is just the information as I understood it from the representatives who were trying to help me. Other people are getting different information, so this is certainly not official information.

Problem is everyone in my testing area got their results except me. I would understand the understaffed notion if others were missing their results too.
Anyway this is freaking me out…

John: The CB rep should have been able to tell you if anything was flagged abnormal on your account or possibly which of their departments or processors had put a hold on your scores/ file. In many cases, they are telling kids that everything looks fine, they are just processing associated reporting documents. Or maybe there was a pencil mark (maybe not even yours) on your form that requires a hand scoring or something. It could be something as simple as that, I suppose. Just my hypothesis.

If a college may need your scores next week, contact their Admissions and let them know what is happening. We had to pay today for a Rush Report for sending all the non-October scores because we were depending on all scores to be reported by next week. Note that they will hold up your free October score reports until your Oct scores are available. Wish I had known that last month; the CB will not waive the Rush Report cost of $11 Report + $31 Rush by the way, even if this delay is not the student’s fault.

Note to everyone: The CB representatives are getting a lot of calls from us all today. Please remember to be polite, as frustrating as this is. They didn’t cause the problem, and they are doing their best to give what information they can. Make sure you thank them for their help.

@DDHM

Thanks for the headsup. They didn’t state explicitly about my results being flagged or anything though. It’s just playing the waiting game now. I hope that you’ve got your scores already, right? When did you get it, and did they send an email to you about it? Or did your scores just magically appeared in the MySAT page?

No scores here either. They did confirm that there were no red flags and that it was “probably” just a processing delay. Other kids are reporting that it magically appears when the CB posts them. You can check periodically, but I had two reps tell us that the next round of scores won’t be posted until Tuesday. Also note that Hurricane Sandy is now predicted for a direct hit over the College Board’s headquarters…on Tuesday, and they may lose power. Work your contingency score reporting plans now. After the application process, think of how easy college will be in comparison!

So did everyone from your area got their scores except you, right? A rep told me to check on Fridays and Tuesdays too as it’s the time when CB posts scores. Guess I’ll need to call the colleges next now…May we get our scores in time!

last year my dd had same issue due to her increasing score.We had to get her school and lawyer involved to contact the higher up person,for placing her REVIEW on priority.Took almost 6 weeks for ETS to release her score! she missed all the deadline for scholarship and ED application :(

Whoa wow. I just got my scores. In June nearly everyone I know had gotten their scores on the first day. Is this a more states issue?

I do not think it is localized in any specific location, although I think international kids got a slight delay. Most kids got scores yesterday, but not all of them due to many different reasons. For example, if a proctor’s reporting form got accidentally separated from a student’s test sheets in their sorting room, they have to sort through the piles and put them together. That was the hypothetical example I was given for a potential delay (not necessarily my case). In many cases, it appears to be random bad luck. All they could tell me is that nothing looked wrong, but there was a delay in processing.

I just spoke with CollegeBoard again, and the representative confirmed that my score is delayed due to “significant score increase.” She said they are going to do “routine checks” to insure fairness; the score will be released in 3 to 4 weeks, which is nerve racking. I understand why they would want to do that, and I’m all for it, but waiting 3 to 4 weeks is outrageous.

I have gotten no confirmation about the marks. I was at the 1st screen shot then 2nd today. I am going to call them in like 10 minute, and try to give you guys an update too. I am applying ED and I am very nervous. For me, it shouldn’t be significant score increase, as I cannot improve over 300 points. Moreover, 2 of my friends (first time taking) who took with me at the same test center also didn’t get their score. this is killing me

Guys, the way I see it is that this is an unexplainable delay. I am international, so I can’t do anything about it. But you Americans, please sue the hell out of them! I guess lawyers aren’t that hard to find in the US.

I mean if you are applying ED/EA this could damage your future. This is serious.

I phoned for the fifth time (yeah I’m that desperate) and got a woman who told me that ‘my scores could be delayed for a lot of reasons including anomaly in scores, late takers, blah blah blah (insert CB FAQ here)’ . She simply would not divulge the exact reason for the delay.

@DaveMerc
Which option did you choose during the recording? Is it ‘Get scores’ or ‘Verify score information’?

For the love of God I think I’ve been pushing those reps too hard now. It’s gonna be an achievement when finally they stop you and say ‘I know it’s the 3rd time you called today’. (note: I got different reps, so they probably had noted down or something). My ‘file’ is clean and without any flags or problems according to an earnest rep ( that I got in my 6th time calling total), and he couldn’t figure out what on earth is wrong with my scores. He rejected the notion that my registration papers was incorrect or my papers was missing.

@john9811: I’m not sure I understand what you mean. (recording?)

My D got her’s at 7am yesterday morning, but she said that later in the morning her friends couldn’t get through and the system had crashed. I can’t believe this is still going on 36 hours later.

Okay, so I called them with my University Councilor.
They said my test was “yet to be scored” , and they said they don’t know the reason.
They told me to wait 7-10days.
I actually have a friend (this was his first time taking sat), who cannot apply EA because of this.

That October 6 Sat seems really sketchy, people complaining about not getting their scores, and people thinking that there was an error in scoring. I’m 1 of those people thinking their score is wrong… got the same score as last time.
