i got p>24… im pretty sure of it too… can someone confirm?

^Yep. It asks for a rectangle with an area of 36, and the resulting perimeter. Smallest possible perimeter is a square, which would be 6+6+6+6=24. All rectangles would be higher.

^yes, square is a rectangle so that’s correct. or 9,9,4,4 which is greater than 24 but less than the other answer, >30

ah, glad to see I got that one correct. I was a bit worried about it.

Why is the polynomial one -18? -16 gives you two positive roots also…

-16 wouldnt be from factors of 17 would it? the equation was x^2 +kx +17

What roots are you getting for -16? Pretty sure it doesn’t work …

you know what i love about cc? the fact that you can kick yourself immediately after the test…SO MANY CARELESS MISTAKES ■■■.

Any predictions on the curve? This was harder than the practice tests I’ve taken. I REALLY HOPE -3 could be a 34…

@timetocarrigan my sentiments exactly

I don’t know how people get 36s on the ACT, haha. So many questions, so little time, no curve, careless mistakes seem abound everywhere, even in subjects I’ve mastered. Math isn’t one, but science is something that I nearly always miss one because of some dumb mistake. This math thing completely screwed me over though, and I forgot to even fill in one of the ones I left blank.

@Cookie, the same thing happened to me in English. I forgot to finish the last problem so I just filled it in with D. Feelsbad.

anyone remember the systems of equations one with the k?
the timing of the act always screws me.

twas -9
10chars

I put -9 for k

For the pyramid question, what letter was the answer? What were the values of the sides of the base?

I remember that I but a whole number, but I don’t remember if it was 16…

sum of bases was 8 and sum of edges was 8 (pythagorean th) so 16

Yup, 16. I knew it had to 16 but put 8… ■■■

i could have swore that in the systems of eqations problem that there was a co efficient in front of k, like maybe or 2 or 3. Anyone else remember this?

it was like 2x-3y=6
and 6x+ky=-2k
