October 25, 2008 ACT Discussion- Reading

Oh, my bad... haha

No worries lol

I'm upset because I think I did pretty bad in this section.. at least on the water section. I couldn't really comprehend that. Does anyone remember the answer to one of the questions on the poetry story? The author would most like disagree with something like memorization, recitation, analysis? I chose memorization.

I just hope I got at least a 30 here.

I'm pretty sure the answer was analysis for that question.

ok so i'm extremely confused here. My reading test had absolutely NOTHING about water cycles. It did, however, have a particularity nasty breed of the "science" passage which was about fungus. I had to speed through that one pretty quick, and i don't think I did very well. A lot more difficult than the Sept. one, i think.

for the 1st passage, wat was the answer to something about "quirks" question?

Eritas -- are you in Ohio by any chance? It seems all of us Ohioans had different tests. :(

yup yup. gahh...why?!?!!

I asked you on your other thread too.

And I wish I knew why... maybe I'll have to schedule my next ACT in Pennsylvania. That killed me, and no one to discuss the test with, either.

I dont remember the answer but I think I put the last answer choice

^the quirks one the answer was the one about the astronauts sitting close together and having different ideas or something

just some answers i got to some of the more debated or questioned problems:

(key words, lol it was like 9 hours ago and i was like dead after)

facilitative

romantic

shadow = barrier

humidity = can't absorb

uncoated paper

paper executives

I have to disagree about the uncoated paper bit.

One of the choices for that question dealt with the "artifacts of the knowledge economy." I don't think that term was EVER mentioned?

Artifacts of the knowledge economy refers to the collaboration techniques used by businesses. It was not mention about the WHY part about the uncoated paper...

So for this facilitative thing, was that the answer? I just filled it in randomly because I ran out of time.

What was uncoated paper about? What was the question?

It specifically mentioned "artifacts of the knowledge economy"? Really?

I reread several times looking for it... darn.

the last paragraph talked about water being a really good solvent and stuff like that right? so it makes sense for it to be facilitative if it's easily soluble with other things. then again this could be my chemistry talking lol.

and i don't recall anything about explaining exactly WHY uncoated paper vs. coated paper, it simply said that uncoated paper was the most used.

Oh I do remember the passage saying that uncoated paper is the most used in the world or the business world or something like that. What was the question asking?

The question was about which question was not answered in the passage.

I narrowed it down to the coated paper and artifacts, and since I couldn't find any mention of the artifacts in the text, selected that.

it was called uncoated free sheet paper, it did describe why they were free sheet due to papers being cluttered around
