October ACT too late?

Hey guys,

I plan on taking September 7 ACT. However, if I get like a low score, such as a 32 or 33 on it, I plan on taking the Oct 22 ACT for a 34+. Is that too late for colleges? I will apply possibly to a few out of state universities early action, but all UCs I'll be applying regular decision. I'm in California.

Thats what I was thinking. I got a 26 (which is not bad but for me its horrible) and I wanna get a 32+ since I got a 31 and dont have any time to prep for september

I also am planning to take the September ACT and hopefull score a 30-31+. If you take the October ACT, most of your scores will probably be back by mid-late November. It really all depends on what colleges you are applying to. If early action deadlines are in early November, you will want to try to score your best on the September ACT. Most college regular decision deadlines will not be until December or January, so you should be fine with those. Look at the deadlines for your colleges and then plan your ACT testing accordingly.

Since both of you are aiming for high scores, I recommend you try Barron’s ACT 36. I have been working through it and it has helped a lot. The book is designed for people like both of you who are aiming to score high.
