Hi all. Just got back my first ever ACT scores, which I took on September 10, 2011, and I'm not really happy.

C: 28
E:33
M:28
R:26
S:26

Should I take the October ACT? What are the chances of increasing my composite score? Any tips for going about the reading/science section?

Thanks in advance!

Most people increase their scores from the first time they take the ACT to the second time. So do take the October ACT. For science do practice passages. You cannot study biology, chemistry, etc. for science because it does not test actual science knowledge (although it is sometimes helpful to know that stuff). So basically, do practice passages for science. Do the same for reading. You may also want to try underlining key points from the passage etc. so you don’t get bored. If you are a slow reader, practice speed reading. Basically you just have to practice and find what is best for you. Hope this helps :)

You have a good chance of improving. Really there is nothing to lose by trying.
