<p>In looking at the calendar on Vassar's site, I am making the assumption that the residential houses are open during the October break and during Thanksgiving break. True? Is food service available during these times? Do many students stay on campus during these times?</p>
<p>The dorms are open during those breaks and there is food service, though it may be a different schedule. As for how many students stay on campus, not too sure but some definitely do. My kids have never stayed for Thanksgiving but they have stayed for at least part of the Oct. break. I suspect lots of seniors stay and there is plenty of socializing and meals happening in senior housing.</p>
<p>My son, a freshman, stayed there for Thanksgiving break. He survived. I didn’t get too many details though.</p>
The campus is virtually dead because so many people leave. The Deece (cafeteria) is still open but a few of its stations are closed. According to my roommate, the Retreat was open as well. They’re open during Thanksgiving as well.
