Okay... that's one right for sure then. Does anyone know if acids are stronger because they have more atoms of hydrogen? I thought acids are stronger because they dissociated easily?

i thought acids are stronger if they had more atoms of oxygen since oxygen is extremely electronegative and pulls the hydrogen away from the molecule so it can be donated easier. I think I did put hydrogen for that one though (if i remember correctly it was a t/f/ce question right?).

I think it was T/T but not CE because HCl is stronger than HC2H3O2 even though acetic acid has more H's

what was that one like right before the relationship analysis where showed some lab equipment and asked which one would be used to separate powdered copper and iron or something like that? I completely guessed and said it was the triangular thing with N on one side and an S on the other. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

i said the funnel.

Yeah I didn't say acetic acid was stronger BECAUSE it had more atoms.
As for the lab equipment, I know magnets can separate metals since certain metals are magnetic (and magnets have N and S). For separating objects such as sand and salt, I thought funnels were a good idea. And finally, the separation of gases should require a thing with a bottle, pipe, and tray, since some gases can dissolve in water, while others can't.

so for the radiation questions, it was that the sun emits ultraviolet rays which are absorbed by elements in our atmosphere, the earth emits infrared radiation, and gamma radiation accompanies most nuclear decay?
btw we are allowed to be discussing these right?

"the earth emits infrared radiation,"
wat were the other options?? Im so confused!! i put infrared or sth else..

wat did i put it in there!! SMACk

Dudes... low electronegativity for oxyanions= more acidic. However for anything in general high electronegativity=more acidity. Also weakly held hydrogens also are very acidic

I put what lord rafiki put. It made sense to me... I ono.

lord rafiki:
yes, i think it is the object you were talking about b/c i assumed that was a magnet (with north and south magnetic sides, and since iron is magnetic and copper is not, you would use that to seperate them.

thanks guys

"I think it was T/T but not CE because HCl is stronger than HC2H3O2 even though acetic acid has more H's"

ohh noo.. i thought a stronger acid dissociates more H ions then acetic acid so I though HCl made more H... :(

Yeah but wasn't it "atoms" not "ions"?

there goes another question... i think i put microwaves or sth in the earth emitting question.. i wasnt so convinced abt infrared!!
HOW STUPID OF ME

^you're not the only one

^ yeah... =.= you are not the only two....

yeah - HCl has less hydrogens than acetic acid, but it is still a stronger acid because it fully dissociates in solution.

any other questions people have?

Wow I'm pretty sure I've gotten all the ones wrong that people have mentioned so far. Does ANYONE have any idea how 15 skipped, 10 wrong would be?

What did you guys put on the question that asks for the substance with lowest electrical conductivity ? Was it acetic acid or methanol ?
