I am active in student government, NHS, and I am almost an Eagle Scout. I play Football, Track, and Cross Country. I have a pair of 29s on the ACT, with subscores being 27, 29, 32, 34 for English, Math, Reading, and Science, respectively. My class rank is currently 13 of 150, with a GPA of 3.69, and a tough schedule with all CP courses offered. I was recently accepted to SLS. What are my odds of appointment, assuming I get a nomination?

The best answer is to apply and find out. No kidding.

I don't know the ACT scale (or the new SAT one, for that matter), but the rest of your resume seems competitive enough to provide a reasonable chance at an appointment. Beyond that, any odds anyone here will give you will be both completely arbitrary and totally meaningless.

You have a good set of credentials. If you really want to go to USNA, then apply and let the chips fall where they may.

Good luck! :)

BTW, my record wasn't as good as yours, and I ended up at NAPS. I also came from NY, which is pretty competitive. You have a fair shot with the qualifications you posted. Go for it!

You're good to go. Give it a run. You'll find your X-country to be good prep for the process. Start doing your pull-ups, too. Btw, you DON'T want to lose much weight.

Thank you guys... and BTW, I am in the weight room every day trying to gain weight, I'm kinda sick of being a twig lol.

Stop your whining, Junior. Some of us would commit genocide to have that problem. ;)

Oh be quiet, Z-blimp. :( And pass the donuts.

dyenoir - I have come to realize that there is no such thing as "odds of appointment". I tried to figure them out too. Statistical odds are only valid when pulling equal balls out of a bucket in the lottery. In the case of applying to the academy, each candidate is completley different and can't be compared to numbers. A better way to view entrance into the academy is to "become competitive". Looking at your brief bio, you are competitive but can do more to make yourself more competitive as a whole person candidate. Application for appointment is a long process. You have time. Enjoy the journey.

"Enjoy"?!!?? You ARE California dreamin'. Sorta like running your nails across the chalkboard (remember those?) for about a year and a half.

THEN pulling them out ... one by one by one by ... That's called plebe summer.

Yea, have a ball. ;)

Didn't an ex-mid pen that tune?

NOW we know what he was talking about, I guess.
