# of credits earned before enrollment

This question is for all you incoming freshmen. How many credits (i.e. AP, Comm. College, foreign language placement exam, other placement tests, etc.) have you earned before you begin your classes in the Fall?

45, but I'm not using most of them for more than placement.

And you can't earn credits with the placement tests, can you? You just get placement, but no credit towards the 120 required to graduate.

you do get credit towards the 120, but there are still a lot of other requirements to fill. I have 16.

58 ap credits!

wow, thats a ton... i got 33 and i thought that was a lot

Christine, no you don't get credit for the michigan placement tests..however you DO get retroactive credit for taking a high level class in the subject. For example, I had AP credit for Calc 1 and Calc 2, and by taking Calc 3...I got 8 credits instead of 4. Also, from the michigan placement test I placed into 4th semesteer french..which I got 8 credits for instead of 4.

Ah, ok...so many things. AHHHHHHH!!!! So basically, since I'm taking Calc 1 & 2 over again, not continuing with French in college, and most of my other credits are social science or humanities, I still don't get anything besides electives. Sad.

16 credits. 4 each for US Hist, World Hist, US Politics, and Calc BC.

I probably could have earned a little more, but I just decided to skip a bunch of tests because honestly, it was the end of the year, and I didn't want to put in any work. (Physics C, Chemistry, Econ, World Politics)

I think I'll just skip history classes now, but I'm retaking Calc II.

34, i also thought that was alot...but apparently 10 ap tests is just not good enough these days

I have heard stories of students coming in with over 60, but having to leave some uncounted because transfers arent allowed to come in with over 60 credits. It's nuts, I know. Guo just made it under. Congrats.

"58 ap credits!"

Wow, you sure you counted correctly? I mean that's a lot to keep track of. If I'm lucky, I might be at 27, 28 at the most. CCers are special indeed.

I think I started off with 60 credits, and I'm at 103 after a year. One of my friends did APs/a ton of classes at Oakland University from sophomore year of high school onward and started around 90. He had issues signing up for a few introductory engineering courses since he was recognized as a senior. Another one I think brought in at least 90 because of AP classes and transfer credit from Colorado University. You can do lots of crazy stuff if you try hard enough.

18 via AP and 8 from placement exams

Yep, 58. Took 18 aps. Passed 17 of them. I'll see how many i retain when I start scheduling tomorrow.

lol which one did you not pass? were you "backpacking" last night at orientation?

No, I'm actually backpacking tonight, in a few hours. I got a 2 on physics C EM. My only classmate for that course and a good friend of mine died the day before the exam, and I was just not really into doing it. I probably should've taken it late. Oh well.

Guo, sorry to hear that. Just curious, are you an engineering major too? What math are you starting with?

nope, I'm actually in LSA. I wanted to start with MATH 285, but it didn't fit in my schedule, so I'm doing 215.

215, same here! I'm guessing you got a 5 on BC?
