I know this has been covered but couldn’t find the thread after searching the Bama forum…

If i recall, the Presidential Scholarship will cover up to 20 credit hours per semester. Am I correct…? (Can’t get through to scholarship office)

Part 2 of question…Does the approval for the hours above 16 come from the scholarship office or advisor…?

“A Presidential Scholarship will cover the value of tuition associated with the number of hours registered by a student.”

This is from 2010 but based on above probably still holds true: "A students tuition will be covered up to 20 hours per term (and reviewed if they attempt 21 or more hours). The only restriction is the eight semesters of undergraduate study. If a student completes an undergraduate degree in 6 semesters, the remaining two semesters could not be used for graduate studies, but would be forfeited. "

^So is the 21 hour cap a hard cap, or can even that be surpassed with special permission?

Thanks…just got confirmation from scholarship office. No limit on number of hours, covers the 8 semesters

You need an exemption to go above 18. DS is taking 20 this term. Was allowed to sign up for 18 then had to get the exemption to add the last few hours.

Probably could have gotten the OK prior to initial class sign up but wasn’t aware of the requirement.

S is taking 21 credit hours this semester. I know his counselor approved his schedule. I was worried that we would have to pay for that 1 credit hour but it was covered. Next semester he is looking at 21 credit hours too…hope it is covered also.

DS is taking 19 hours this semester. All he had to do was meet with his advisors. He has one for Physics and one for EE.
