My D and I will be in New York in 2 weeks, and just found out our plans for Monday night have been cancelled. I know most broadway theatres are closed Monday nights, but I was thinking that we might be able to see something off or off off broadway that night. Anyone have any suggestions?

Newsies, Chicago, Mama Mia, Phantom and Rock of Ages have shows on Mondays. Check out TodayTix app It’s an awesome app because for many shows you can pick your seats, you order through your phone and they deliver the tickets to you at the theater.

Cherry Jones in “When We Were Young and Unafraid” has a Monday show at City Center theater. As does the Tupac musical “Holla if Ya Hear Me”…I mean, if you want something a little off the tourist circuit. (You mentioned off-Broadway.)

Atomic which will be playing at the Acorn Theatre starts, I believe, on the 26th. An absolutely FABulous cast in a 199 seat theatre. Tickets are in the $70 range, a bargain. I know a few of the actors and have been fortunate enough to hear a lot of the music during the current rehearsal period. Go see it! :)

Alwaysamom, wow, what a cast for that show! I hadn’t heard of it yet. Thanks for sharing. My D was in a show recently with one of the actors in that cast, but the whole list is outstanding.

Wow, great suggestions everyone. I’m going to research and we’re definitely going see one of these shows. So excited for the trip.

One of the recent Ithaca grads is in “Atomic” and I hear great buzz about that show.

I didn’t look it up but what about Violet, not sure if its dark Monday or not.

Violet doesn’t have Monday night performances.

Ahh, I missed the Monday qualifier. Atomic will be dark on Mondays, too, but if you can go on another night, go! Sitzprobe is today!

Upright Citizens Brigade has Monday shows, in general (though not on June 30th), if you like improv.

Avenue Q is playing Off Broadway (used to be on Broadway) and if you haven’t seen it, it is a real treat. It is showing on Monday, June 30.
