Hey, I am a transfer student for Fall '09 and apparently this year the on-campus housing at Penn is really full. I am trying to look to off-campus housing and am wondering if you have any advice. Any recommended housing in terms of having most Penn students in them, lowest priced, closest to campus, etc? Thanks!

You can get a pretty good deal if you’re willing to have some uncertainty about second semester. First semester tons of people go abroad so there should be a fair amount of sublets open just for first semester.

If you want something right on campus with tons of Penn students go for the Radian if there are any open beds. It’s expensive though.

Look for housing on the following streets: Walnut between 40 and 42, Locust between 40 and 42, Spruce between 39 and 42, Pine between 39 and 42; 40, 41 or 42 between Walnut and Baltimore. That’s the major student off-campus area. Check with CampusApartments to see if they have any groups who need roommates, or check Craigslist to see who needs roommates. The price range you should look for is 600-750/month plus utilities. If you’re on Craigslist, don’t be fooled by people who claim 52nd and Walnut to be University City; that’s West Philly and well away from both campus and most students.

Thanks for all the reply!
