I'm living off campus at Boardwalk and looking what the different internet options are up at Gainesville.

So far i've seen AT&T and Cox Cable. Anyone have any opinions on either? I currently use AT&T DSL at home and it is a giant piece of crap; it is rather cheap however.

Can anyone comment on the options? Thanks!

When we were shopping for off-campus apartments for my daughter, they mostly came with internet included. Does Boardwalk not include that in their amenities?

AT&T is crap regardless of your location on the map.; they just suck. I have Clear (the new clearwire) here in Jax and it works great, does anyone know if it works as good in Gainesville or should I go for COX? -No way I’m signing up with AT&T

Most people around here have Cox, and I haven’t really heard any complaints. That’s what I had in my previous apartment, also. Sometimes there would be connectivity problems, but I really think it was our wireless router more than anything. But I’d make sure that you actually need it, because most places come with internet already…

Yeah I do actually need it. I’ll be renting a condo and it doesn’t include the internet… Actually, How far out does the wireless campus signal go? I’m only 4 blocks away from campus, on 9th st.

Oh, okay, well, if you need it, I would just get Cox. That’s what most people have, and I really haven’t heard anyone complain about it, and I’ve never had any huge problems with it in this past year. I have no idea how far out the wireless signal goes, but I don’t think it goes out that far (4 blocks). I’m pretty sure it only encompasses campus, but I’m not 100% sure… where exactly would you be living? You also could ask your neighbor what they do for internet. I’m thinking most people will be using Cox, though, especially because you can get it packaged with your cable.
