ok so I moved into my dorm today (Holly C) and my internet connection is horrible!
my roommate's (..housemate's?) connection is just fine in her room. (the other two roommates aren't here yet so idk about their connection). the only way I can get a connection (and even be able to write this post) is if I'm up against the wall next to my room(house)mate's room or up against my window. wth! this is ridiculous, who can I talk to about this?
I tried googling internet connection trouble for USF but I only got links to USF st. pete
can anyone help, or am i just stuck with this patchy internet connection?

I agree with Lizard… call IT, and also use an ethernet cord for now.

I know that for my personal computer at home, my wireless would not connect with Vista-- I had to upgrade to Windows 7. Are you using Vista? (Vista has sooo many issues!!)

I’m in holly D and the internet in our living room is decent but in my room its slow at times and okay at times. I’m going to give it a few days and see what happens.

yea i have windows vista on my HP computer. My mom is supposed to buy be a new laptop so I guess I’ll tell her to get one with windows 7?
and yea I called IT and even though the guy was nice…he pretty much told me there was nothing anyone could do. He said maybe talk to my RA about it but he really couln’t help me further than that. I guess I can ask my mom to get me an ethernet cord…as soon as I figure out what that is.
thanks guys!

I just bought one today. They are called Cat-5 cables, go to bestbuy or any store with an electronic section and tell them what you need and they will bring you to it. (pretty much looks like a thick phone cable) Just makes sure it says Cat-5. By the way how are things going for you? I know its your first year here like it is mine, besides my one roommate (I live with the RA) I haven’t met too many people yet, which sucks. lol

thanks for all your help guys, my mom got me a new laptop (which she was already going to do) and it’s got windows 7 so it works pretty well…so far. I got my fingers crossed!
If i do have any problems I’ll be sure to buy that cable thingy. actually i’ll probably get it just in case.

things at USF are going ok i guess, USFfan, thanks for asking I haven’t met anyone either but I’m used to theses things, i move around alot, so I’m not gonna worry too much about it. Plus it’s only been a day…
I thought RAs get to have a room to themselves? hmm
did you go to that hypnotist show, btw? :D

yeah I thought RA’s did too lol but I guess not in Apartments. And I was planning on it but I ended up going out to eat instead, did you go? I’m going to try to make the next few ‘events’, if you want to maybe join up and head together let me know? By the way if you have FB you should look me up and add me, let me know and I can PM you my name
