deferred…
that’s oh-for-three on EA for my 3 hopefuls…
this is the first time in my life (maybe for most of us) when someone told me I wasn’t the best… welcome to adulthood, huh?

But on the bright side, I got into umass amherst, which is my first choice for safety/likelies, and so I know I have someplace to land next year. Oh well, I’ll go buy a UMAss sweatshirt and wear it around until RD when I start hearing back from the rest…

Good luck all, and congrats those of you who got accepted…

sorry it is just really hard to take the defferal

it just sucks, i really thought i had a legit chance at getting in, and with everyone at my school talking about schools and getting into Yale, Wash U etc, it is just really hard for me to take

and im just really nervous about my future as i dont know where i can get in.

Jasobyellsbury: take SATs again and take the ACT. Submit your new and better scores to BC along with getting in contact with region rep…LET THEM KNOW BC IS YOUR FIRST CHOICE! Some of these EA acceptances to BC use it as backup to other schools.
Keep the faith!!

i’m from southern mass and i got into Carroll today with a 1290/1930 SAT and 32 ACT. my scores are like nothing compared to some you guys, i’m shocked i was accepted.

Jacobyellsbury: Take a day or two to absorb the negative impact this deferral has had on you. Go do something good for someone, donate canned goods to local food bank, give something to salvation army when you’re out and about. Clean out your closet and give an old coat to someone who needs it…good will etc…get your mind off this for now…THEN…
Take a look at ready2go4 test scores. Take the ACT and yes, taking the SAT will show them your sincerity in doing whatever you can to improve your chances. This will give you another opportunity to contact them when you send in new scores with letter stating your genuine desire to attend BC.
My opinion, what do you have to lose? If you’re gonna go down, go down fighting…give it your best shot!!
You did not get rejected, maybe they want to see you take the bull by the horns and give raising the test scores another shot. And I wish you the best!

Being the eternal optimist…I’m going to try one more time…
Jacobyellsbury: I think you can still take Jan/Feb tests and submit. Check with schools. My SAT went up by 130 points from #1 time to #2 time. Math alone went up 100 points. (it was really low first time I took…then I just read up on the test and got a better feel for how to take the test and improved.)
Did you look at applying to Fordham Rose HIll?

i havnt picked up an SAT book in months, figuring 1970 was a decent score

but with the record number of applicants i now realize it is a **** score
i dont know what fordham rose hill is
now all i have left is university of maryland which looks like a big reach as well

your funny and seem to have a great personality
so dont worry
ull get in somewhere…
i went through deferrel depression…but after a day or two i was fine …and u will be too
college isnt everythin, you will still be successful if you work hard…
i got that speech a hundred times and didnt help till i realized for myself that its okay…

im waiting on the edge of my seat for bc. TWO DEFERRALS before x-mas wud srsly just suck…
feel sry for u washington peepz

jacobyellsbury, I understand that it’s difficult to take a deferral, and it’s okay to feel a little angry/depressed for a few days, but I’d take the advice that everyone’s been giving you.

1. Take the SAT again, you’ll be surprised at what rises. When I retook in October I had been studying like crazy to raise my math score 30-40 points, and it only went up 10, but my Critical Reading score, which I thought had peaked, shot up 80 points. So, to make a long story short: Study a little, and just give it a shot.

2. Write a thoughtful and meaningful letter that spells out EXACTLY why BC is perfect for you, and how you would attend in a heartbeat if accepted. College’s like to know when students are committed to them. Make sure to mention any accomplishments or new activities that you’ve taken up since November.

3. Apply to other schools RD! Personally, I HIGHLY recommend Fordham for you. I don’t go there myself, but BC and Fordham share a lot of applicants; they’re very similar. Fordham has a beautiful Gothic campus in the Bronx and a cosmopolitan campus in Manhatten and is very reminiscent of BC in both perosonality and demographics, plus it’s easier to get into, ;).

i got my thin envelope today, unfortunately. very depressing, but im still sort of hopeful. some friends of mine who attend say i have a good chance. on the other hand, a brilliant friend got rejected after being deferred.

ready2go: You must have had some awesome soft items on your resume (ECs, recommendations, essay). Or is it that new ‘Ready2go Library’ they are building next year.
