My son attended a luncheon today for those candidates that where awarded Congressional Nominations to any of the academies. I spoke to the Congressional Assistant who was the first to call my son to inform him of his nominations. She went on to explain that once their office sends the list(s) of Nominees to each academy, our Congressman's office does not have any further input on who and when Appointments are offered. In my son's case, he was called the first monday after Thanksgiving but did not speak directly to the Congressional Assistant until the following day. The USAFA contacted the Congressman's office on 12/16/05 to inform them of my son's Appointment. The Congressman's Assistant said she had to notify my son within 24 hours of notification. That is why he was pulled out of class near the end of the day (last friday). We were told that the "package" of Appointment was mailed from USAFA monday. We still do not have it. His status has not yet been updated on the admissions web sight. Keep in mind, my son did not have a LOA. Sit tight, it will be worth it.
