congrats wildtiger and texas_falcon! you should be very proud.

Congrats to all. However if you choose USAFA over USNA i will personally come over at the fottball game and beat you down. LOL

and thats right afer I learn how to type and/or spell

fergsonfire you're right--my father was an Air Force colonel and my daughter only applied to usna! Another form of evolution...;)

Texas Falcon, We send our congratulations to you as well.

If you really want to have a pilot's billet more than anything....and want to think like a corporate executive ( uniform standards in the AF officer ranks are one glaring difference from USN we note again and again) , as opposed to thinking in multiple job opportunities with a decidely spit and polished military approach to your job....than choose AFA....

USNA is for someone who cares about details USAFA can't be bothered with. This is NOT a diatribe against the AFAcademy. Having visited both places....with a kiddo who attended both SSeminars last year....knowing young people from each school....they have different mind sets, different mission orientations, different ways to arrive at the same goals: serving our great country.

So come to your own conclusions about what kind of job and school you want for the next 9 years or so of your life....and whatever options you choose - if you are of the caliber to go either way, God Speed and Congratulations.

I was pulled from class into the principal's office under the impression I was in BIG trouble. When I came in, my counselors were there and Congressman Pete Sessions was on the phone to tell me the news!

Yay sandiegodude! So great to hear! Congrats!

Does anyone know where I could get a cool USNA bumper sticker or decal for my car?

Follow the link to online shopping for the Visitor's Center. I am pretty sure that they will have what you want. They are very helpful in the gift shop.
http://www.usna.edu/visit.htm. Congratulations on your appointment! How nice for your congressman to come and deliver the message to you live.

I am sandiegodude's mom and I have been on cloud nine all day! Both my father (a former Commandant) and my husband are USNA graduates and Scott will be third generation. I pulled my younger daughter out of school and we went over to Jesuit prep and totally covered his car in Navy blue and gold crepe paper and painted his windows with "GO NAVY" and USNA '10 slogans. He said it took several friends to get the stuff off so he could drive safely. Oh well, moms are allowed to go overboard! Thanks go out to Peskemom, oregonmom, dad2be etc for keeping me entertained. Now Scott needs to brush up on his waterpolo skills so he can maybe play for Navy at some point.

Congrats, Sandie! That's an awesome way to find out.
