Congrats again, Oregon Mom! That must have been soooooo exciting! Jake must be ecstatic now...and I'm sure you are as well!

Oregon mom...the day I saw the big envelope in the mailbox, my kiddo wasn't home from school yet. I walked down our long lane, carrying the mail and didn't know whether to scream for joy or cry. I placed the envelope on her bed...knowing she was still hours away from being home.... I decided it really was HER place to find it and then scream and tell everyone, so I - as calmly as possible, went to prepare dinner. I almost sliced off my left thumb doing some chopping. It was a really bad and deep cut. I didn't realize I was shaking until another family member said to me: "Are you OK?" At that point - juggling ice and paper towels and blood I admitted that I must have been more excited and distracted than I thought I was...and spilt the beans about the Appointment coming in the mail. My dear daughter didn't seem to mind - she did get to open it first and proudly showed it to us all.

What precious moments all of our families share once that big envelope is in our very own hands!

Anchors aweigh, my boys! Anchors aweigh!

NAME: Tim Steiner

SERVICE SELECTION: NAVY
ADMISSION STATUS: Appointment

Beat the Army, beat the Army GREY!!!!!!! Congrats Swillz!! Wahoo for you!

Yay. Represent Oregon. A guy at my school was recently accepted to USNA. I was just talking to him about it today (we go to school in Gresham). Congrats!

oh no, not anchors aweigh already. I have heard that song so many times. I don't think I will mind hearing it as a mid, but as an enlisted guy its just like, come on man no more. LOL. Well for all to know I am in much better spirits as of late. I recently reenlisted for a nice bonus, and then "officially" put in my academy package with my command. I should hopefully know by next friday. Wish me luck, but I think that with the strength of everything I have done in the military under the pressures of being in the Nuclear program. I am well prepared to handle anything they can throw at me. And just remember if you see an old man wearing fish, a boomer pin, and some colorful ribbons on I-day, that will be me. Considering I'll be 23 in november. On Veterans day even, HA! Anyways congrats to everyone that has made it. PACNORWEST representin'. I am in washington in case you all were wondering. Hope all is well and best wishes!

you wouldn't happen to be at Kitsap-Bangor, would you?

why yes I would be at NBK-Bangor

man...that's a nice base. We did some of our Battalion Orientation up there in September. We got a tour of the Alabama. It was pretty awesome being on a sub, but I know exactly what I DON'T want to do in the Navy now.

You and me both, HA! actually I wouldn't mind going back to a sub but I'd probably want to go to a SSGN (the Ohio, Michigan, Georgia, or Florida). Take it from me, it is definitely not the life for everyone. But that is why submariners are so close. The few and the proud. Remember PRIDE RUNS DEEP!!!!

Swillz- congratulations! Job well done!
fergsonfire- best of luck on Friday! keep us posted!

Congratulations Tim!!!... I was praying for you..Oregon has some great kids! I heard from our BGO that he is working with another boy at our high school to try for his appointment. He didn't get a nomination but they apparently want him for waterpolo. He is a really good friend of Jakes so it would be so cool for Jake if he gets an appointment.

My daughter is coming over tonight to show us her newest wedding dress choice...

OM~ hope the second time is a charmer! Keep us posted!
