Oh, wonderful news Kat! Yeah!

fergsonfire, you already one of the elite of the fleet coming from the nuclear community. Already an E-5. Most impressive.

Congratulations Janell!!! and Family :)
My mid and I had the pleasure of meeting the delightful and talented Janell at the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego. USNA is fortunate to get such a bright and motivated young lady!
The Legacy continues (Janell is not only a Navy brat, but a USNA brat), and God Bless your family.

katwkittens: congratulations to your son and to another member of the class of 2010!!!

Hear Hear Kawkittens!!!! Another family celebrating and counting down to I-day!!! Yipee!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on having another family member in the academy. Thank you spidermom for the compliment. I have worked very hard to get to where I am. I also am not only a navy brat and in the navy, but if I am appointed to the academy I will be a 4th generation academy attendee as my father, grandfather, and great grandfather all attended the academy and were career officers of 26, 30, and 25 years respectively. Congratulations to all that have made it. I hope to be joining you at the academy for I-day and if not let me be the first to welcome you all to the greatest navy in the world.

fergsonfire,
Sounds like you're highly qualified and highly motivated! Prior enlisted at USNA are a great asset to the Brigade. Good luck, and let us know when the appointment arrives! :)

Please! The term is "Navy Junior". Brats are in the Army and Air Force.

LFWB dad, what is the correct term for Marine Corps children then?

PERFECT! of course! :-)

what does the acronym "CVW" stand for as it pertains to academy visits? Thank you!

Candidate Visit Weekend

peskemom,
personally, I'm an Air Force brat--help me. What is the correct nomenclature for Navy offspring?

Navy Junior.

One of my first memories was in 1958 at the Officers Club at NAS North Island. There was this discussion among the adults about the difference between Brat and Junior at what ever it was I being seen and not heard at. Its weird what you remember.

But being married to a full-fledged Army BRAT, (father was USMA '50) the distinction is significant.

haha, peskemom! "perfect"!

peskemom and katwkittens,

Congratulations to your children! I wish both of your families well as they go through the process to make a final decision. After all of this waiting sometimes that's the toughest part. Please keep us posted.

And for those still waiting to hear about an appointment, keep staring at the mailbox. :) Update your files - every little bit helps. Good luck!
