I will let all of you know if and when I get an appointment, however it will probably be delayed because I may not be at a location where I can use the internet at the point in time. And thank you for the encouragement and compliments. I do appreciate them very much. I wish you all the best.

I went to this weekend's CWV and was totally impressed with USNA and that helped me to decide that this is the right place for me, even though I always thought I would go somewhere else (not mentioning names)...Go Navy.

fiterace87, you aren't giving up on USAFA are ya, c'mon don't go to the dark side, lol.

It's a good school and I applied there also, haven't heard yet though.

For those of you who have your appointments, does anything change on your CIS page to indicate this? ie, a link, a simple 'congrats', etc

Well, I still respect USAFA for the school that it is, but I think that USNA is a better fit for me personally, in many ways. I like their approach to the honor concept and to leadership better than I like USAFA's approach. Additionally, I like the career opportunities that are available to USNA grads better than I like the opportunities available to USAFA grads. Not to say that USAFA is a bad place; actually quite the contrary, but for me personally I have discovered that USNA is a better fit for me. Best of luck wherever you go texas_falcon.

Dmeix....I was wondering the same thing....Once we got the nomination listed...haven't noticed any other changes. I wonder if they wait for the acceptance to the appointment back??? Anyone in the know on this?

I asked this question on another thread a while ago, and was informed that the CIS doesn't change. But, the BGIS (BGO Info System) does, so your BGO tracks the progress all the way through. So no matter what your BGO says, they will most likely know before you.

Congrats fitrace87 and USNAgirl2010!!

Thanks...I struggled with my decision, but I think I've found the place where I want to go.

Thanks 2010mom&dad just hope I get my waivers.

If you are not 100 percent positive that this is what you want to do you will not like it. Take it from an actual Navy sailor. I have been serving now for over 2 years and it is not an easy path. You have to be very mentally strong in order to make it through all of the hoops that the navy will put in front of you. Be decisive, no one enjoys an officer who second guesses him or herself. And always remember it is the Chiefs that run the navy, not the officers.

Amen to that fergsonfire. I was blessed with some really outstanding CPOs both as an enlisted person and later as an officer. That's probably my fondest Navy memory.

New officers need to learn their jobs fast (don't be afraid to ask questions becasure the alternative is to stay stupid). Work hard. Listen. Respect. Get competent asap. Have military bearing AND a sense of humor. Don't make the chief do your job and don't try to do his.

Fergs, would you agree?

DMeix, appointment status does not show up on CIS.

I completely agree. The best JO is one who is not afraid to admit that they do not know everything. A sense of humor is always appreciated. Although they teach you about fraternization be aware the talking to and knowing your enlisted members is a part of your job. Don't over step your bounds. Be confident, yet not cocky. Be proud yet not a "dig it". And most of all, be yourself. These are the men that you will be spending years of your life with aboard a vessel in the wild blue yonder. It is a lonely place and you do not want to alienate yourself. Good luck everyone. I hope to see you all there at the end of June. I'll hopefully be there to help you all along the way. Best wishes.

FINALLY!!!!

Sen. Sarbanes is notorious for being the VERY LAST senator to submit his nom's to USNA....and true to form, my daughter received her Nomination from him today! Combined with her LOA and blue-chip recruitment, all we do now is wait for that big envelope!

Thanks to all for your best wishes as we were waiting -- (whew...what an ordeal! Glad she's our only one --don't think I could do this again!)

Congrats on that. Always a much touted moment when someone gets a LOA. Hopefully things will go well and everyone on here will be where they want to be when things come to pass. I welcome you all into the fraternity/sorority that is the US Navy. Welcome Aboard and Bravo Zulu to you all.

Yea MommaSparrow! Congrats to your daughter. Go 2010!
