<p>The only ones I know who have gotten a big check were those schools where Intel folks came to present them. :(</p>

<p>i think the big checks went to long island. i read a few news articles that indicated that. 48 hours and the finalist should be called.</p>

<p>My understanding is that Intel goes to the schools with large #s of SFs to present giant checks. Maybe they throw a dart at a map and send some STS EE on a trip. Has anyone gotten a giant check and been the only one?</p>

i'm a semifinalist, and there were 4 from my school this year.
to comment on some things that were being said on this thread: my school acutally does have a sort of banner for semifinalists- it is a banner with circles on it with each circle representing a year that our school has had at least one semifinalist (the circles date back to the 1980s or something, and we've had semifinalists in every year through this year).
my school didnt get big checks either, but the local newspaper came and took pictures of us. i'm very nervous for finding out. i did read in that intel packet that was sent that the finalists would be receiving a phone call, but i'm pretty sure it said that the finalists would find out on the 30th, not tomorrow.
why do people think that the finalists will be called tomorrow?</p>
