haha gosh, again I agree with Linnea. if Brandeis is your reach pdesai, you might as well say Harvard is your match (even when it's areach for everyone)! I don't think Brandeis is that easy to get into!

My relative got rejected 5 years ago with top scores, definitely because it was obvious Brandeis was her safety. She must not have cared enough about the school to put anything into her essays, because she got into many more competetive schools that she was more passionate about. I got in with similar scores, but I tried my best to express to Brandeis that I'm a serious applicant. I understand Brandeis rejecting her (even though I love my cousin!), and other people like that. They want to enroll kids who are going to be stoked to be on their campus. And I'm assuming that's what makes for such a great atmosphere at Brandeis.

Hmm, getting rejected for not showing interest. That was my plan four years ago, since I wasn't big on the school even before I applied. I did the Common App and didn't schedule an interview even though I lived fairly close to Brandeis.

Instead of rejecting me, they bribed my parents with a scholarship. So I guess my plan backfired. And four semi-miserable years later, I'm counting the days until I graduate and move on. I don't quite want to see the school get swallowed up in a giant sinkhole, but I can tell you if I ever am rich enough to donate money it will be to my medical school, not Brandeis.

I am almost 100% positive I am going to Brandeis. Just waiting to compare the financial package from Emory University.
If anyone is surely going to Brandeis (esp if you play soccer or are majoring in Pre-Med), email me. gauravgc@yahoo.com

What's so bad about Brandeis? Well, it depends on who you ask. For me, it was the utter lack of personal attention I got in most of my classes. On average I was maybe in 1 class a semester in which the professor actually knew my name. (in my science courses alone it was well below that) Also the classes are extremely difficult, and not so much in an intellectually challenging way--it was more about memorizing thousands of tiny details and trying to beat out my classmates on the grading curve. Which segues to my next point. We definitely have grade deflation going on here compared to other elite schools, so when it comes time to apply to graduate/professoinal school/jobs we get hurt. I mean, who are they going to choose, a 3.3 from Brandeis or a 3.7 from Harvard, even if the two students are equally qualified?

Also the social scene is pretty bad. It wasn't so bad at first because when I started college I pretty much never drank and partied very little. But then I started enjoying drinking and partying more, and things got boring around here fast. Over the last couple years the cops and Reslife have been cracking down even more on parties, so things have gotten worse.

For the most part I despised pre-med here. It did prepare me for the difficulty of medical school but for the reasons I mentioned above it wasn't particularly stimulating. And I don't know where I'm going yet, because I still have a couple places that I haven't heard from yet. Let me tell you though that I was a pretty good Brandeis candidate, and a lot of top medical schools rejected me right away. Very few pre-meds here get into the most prestigious schools, at least a lot fewer than you'd expect considering our reputation.

I think the accepted come through DHL. Would make more sense, since the information is more important than the information about the rejections.

I'm worrying too, Lakshmi. Best of Luck to ya! And me.. We all need it.

thanks. best of luck to you too.
but I guess that if i don't receive anything by Tuesday I can consider myself waitlisted/rejected ..oh well....let's not lose hope yet...

sigh! so i got my snail mail letter today and you know what the decision for me is... This is ridiculous since Brandeis is my backup....... Dun understand....
