I feel like sending one of these to the schools I’ll be turning down:

I am very sorry to inform you that it is not possible to accept your offer of admission to the Class of 2015. I wish I were writing to report a different decision, but the competition was so rigorous this year, that there were many outstanding colleges whose offers I could not accept.

I was offered admission to three colleges. The great majority of the colleges could certainly have been succesful in educating me, and most of them presented outstanding scholarships to me. My family was, therefore, faced with the necessity of choosing a college from many more highly ranked schools than I could attend.

I wish it were possible to attend more of the colleges I was accepted to, and I understand how difficult it must be for colleges to keep their yield up. While my family conducted its deliberations with the utmost care, we know that no one can predict with certainty which college will end up being the best for me. Past experience suggests that the particular student who attends a college is far less important than what the college does to educate the student body.

I very much appreciate the interest you have shown in me. But I’m going to Northeastern, *****es (female dogs)!

Sincerely,

Scholarship: Full Tuition paid, still have to pay room and board

Why I think I was accepted:
National Merit Scholar, which is why I got the full tuition…although I’m not really sure that giving me so much money based on my preformance on a random test I did on a random Saturday morning two years ago is really a good thing. Still, I’m happy! I love math and science, and I want to do research and gain work experience, so this school is a really strong candidate for me!
