*official* 2011 regular decision post here

Sorry skazya…where are you located?

Decision- accepted!

GPA-3.8uw 4.6w
SAT-2210
ECs-church youth group, drama club, tons of choirs, math team captain, NHS officer, peer mediator, work a lot etc
Honors/scholarship-Honors Program w/ 15,000 dean’s scholarship

I had the GPA and SAT scores to get in with the honors program, I wasn’t expecting that much in merit scholarships because I’m a middle class white female from south of boston but no complaints :)

will you be attending-probably not, but who knows?

Did you guys get your decisions via the application status checked we’ve been using?

I’m from MA

Aw, skazya :frowning:
That’s so brutal. Being rejected is one thing, but you had to wait so long for a final decision only to be waitlisted? On the bright side, at least it’s not a rejection and you still have a chance! Looking at your stats, now I’m terribly scared. You have excellent stats that puts mine to shame and I applied to pharmacy too :expressionless: This isn’t good … Great. My stomach’s already doing summersaults.

Decision- Accepted

GPA-3.9uw, 4.32w
SAT/ACT-1940SAT. SATIIs: Math2: 800, Math1: 720, Chem: 750 and 710, Bio-M: 690, Latin: 650
ECs- Tutoring at local library, administrative position at local library, student director of a saturday tutoring program at my high school, over 900 (so close to 1000 tho) hours of in-school volunteering over the past 6 years (my school starts in grade 7), Chorus for 4 years, piano for 6 years, summer school teaching assistant, Brown University undergraduate courses
Honors/scholarship- National Honor Society, in-school awards, 12K/year scholarship

Why do you think you were accepted?-I think I was accepted because of my grades and essays/recs. NEU is my safety school, so I’m just happy I got in.

Will you be attending?- Probably not. I’m still waiting for a few Ivy’s and other schools. As for my safeties, its my top one, but I’m hesitant to go because my high school is legit 5 minutes walking from NEU.

Decision- Accepted (Engineering)

GPA- 91 UW, 96 weighted (top 11%)
SAT/ACT- 2260 (680 CR, 780 M, 800 W), 800 Math 2, 760 Chem
ECs- Music (All State, lots of experience), programming work experience, QuestBridge finalist, math/science/engineering ECs, a few school/regional/state awards, NHS…

Honors/scholarship- Dean’s (14K/Yr)

Why do you think you were accepted/denied/wait-listed?- I may not have the best rank, but I’ve taken one of the hardest course loads and put effort into ECs relevant to my major

Will you be attending?- If I commute, I’ll have everything covered, but if I live on campus, I’m short like 10K. I’ll probably see what I get from other schools, and I hope I get into an Ivy which would cover the financial aid part.

skazya, sorry to ask but was the 3.9 gpa weighted or unweighted?

Decision- Accepted into the N.U. in Program. I was kind of confused. It means that I go to one of their campuses abroad for the first semester, then transfer to the Boston campus in the spring.

GPA- uw: 3.6ish w: 4.05
SAT/ACT- SAT: 1900
ECs- National Honor Society (secretary), Literary Magazine (Editor), Model United Nations, Interact Club
Honors/scholarship- about $6000 grant per year

Why do you think you were accepted/denied/wait-listed?- I probably was on the edge. My stats are good, but not great for that school. I guess they kind of wanted to accept me… but not all the way. I don’t know how many people received the same decision as I did, so I really don’t know.

Will you be attending?- Probably not. I’m not sure I want to go abroad my first semester, and the financial aid isn’t great. I have better offers elsewhere. But I don’t know yet. We’ll see.

Skazya- my friend applied to Rowan and was rejected because there wasn’t enough room in his major/ he didn’t qualify. He called and asked them if he could switch majors. They said yes. He changed his major and they accepted him (he’ll switch back to his original major his second year.)

Could you do that? Ask them if they can take you off of the waitlist and accept you if you change majors?

I was waitlisted too …

That sucks. Same thing (Pharm)?

(same thing meaning is it the same thing the other person was waitlisted for)

coolkid617 and ready2011 - Stats?

I don’t know yet. I know I worded that badly. Sorry.

S accepted into NU.in program (Physics), first semester abroad in either Australia, Costa Rica, England or Greece. Very little financial aid.

MA

GPA 3.8
SATs 1850
Several ECs, Honors classes, 1 AP

Waiting until info from all schools applied to before making decision, but not sure about this first semester abroad concept.

I would think that it would be tough (for me anyway) to have to adjust to college AND living abroad.

hi guys congrats to all accepted
can you say where you got accepted from so we know whether or not to expect an email? thanks!

I’m in the same boat as TriciaC’s s. I’m kind of nervous about going abroad my first semester, but at the same time it might be really exciting. I don’t know. If my financial aid package was better, I might consider it. And it’s more expensive to go abroad. It just doesn’t make sense to do it for me, I think.

Is the NU.in program the new Jan-Start?

^^Yes, before NUin was just an option for January Start but now it is required apparantly.
