Will you be attending? - Unless my other ā€œtop choiceā€ gives me an AMAZING offer, Iā€™d say yes! Iā€™m thrilled. I love this school, and I couldnā€™t have asked for a better situation.

Accepted! :D

2190 SAT
3.8 GPA
Only a couple APs
No sports, essentially no extracurriculars
Very little community service
Good essays

Will you be attending? ā€¦probably not. Havenā€™t heard back from many schools yet, either. Still, this is a good just-in-case school, imo (:

Decision- ACCEPTED college of arts, media, and design

GPA- my school doesnt have gpaā€¦ but grades are in the A/B+ range
ACT - 31
ECs- lots of art ECs, varsity track, clubs, internships
Honors/scholarship- Deans scholarship

Why do you think you were accepted/denied/wait-listed?- great art portfolio and great academics :)

Will you be attending?- not sure yet. still waiting to hear from other schools

Accepted from TX - College of Arts, Media and Design (Major: Music - Music Industry Concentration) with $15,000/yr deanā€™s scholarship
SAT/ACT:2290/34 (one sitting for both)
GPA: 3.6 or 3.7 unweighted, i forgetā€¦~4.9 weighted
HS Stuff: National Merit Semifinalist, Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar, lots of academic competitions at regional/state levels, IB Diploma Candidate

Iā€™ll most likely be going, waiting on one more decision (USC), but I really want to major in Music Industry and I didnā€™t apply to that major at USC cuz you have to have portfolios and auditions to get into it there ā€“ at NU itā€™s based on academic achievement.

P.S.

How do I find out if I got honors? I donā€™t think I did, as itā€™s not mentioned in my decision or scholarship letters, butā€¦I really thought that a $15,000/yr deanā€™s scholarship would probably mean I was in honors too?

takubo, are you sure you were looking at the right information for USC? You no longer have to do auditions for Music Industry unless you want a Bachelorā€™s of Music. If you want the Bachelorā€™s of Science, all you need is a ā€œresumeā€ that you add to the supplement (essentially what music experience you have, instruments, etc.).

Decision- Accepted!!!

GPA- 3.5 UW, 3.8 W
SAT/ACT- Reading 700, Mathematics 650, Writing 690, total 2040
ECs- A few clubs, but not many. Mostly outside of school.
Honors/scholarship- No honors or scholarship. I got accepted to the N.U.in program, if that means anything though. Basically, I have to spend the first semester studying abroad, then I can come to Boston in the spring semester. Oh, and I got $2,750 in aid.

Why do you think you were accepted/denied/wait-listed?- Because Iā€™m awesome. lol

Will you be attending?- Itā€™s my first-choice, but itā€™s definitely not set in stone yet. I want to see which other colleges accept me (only American U so far), and then do just a little more research, before deciding.

Congrats to everyone else who got in.

When do institution financial aid come out?!

Waitlisted

3.75 W
1940 SAT
740 SAT II English
630 SAT II Math

New York

Iā€™m disappointed because Iā€™m waiting on other schools more selective than NEU and I hope this doesnā€™t mean bad news all around. I knew I couldnā€™t afford it but it was my top choice before the financial reality set in. I probably wonā€™t join the wait list.

What do you mean, institution? They tell you your financial aid package when you are accepted. Other than that itā€™s federal loans, parent loans, private scholarships from elsewhere, and private loans.

They tell you directly in the letter if you got honors. They may (but definitely not sure!) have decreased the percentage accepted into honors as well. Last year they still did top 10% of each college, but over 500 kids accepted it instead of the usual 200-something. So it is possible they decreased it this year, because 500 was pushing what the honors program could handle.
