Official 2011 Yale Transfer thread

I jump a little every time I hear my phone buzz with a new email message. You guys are definitely not alone - who knows how many others check up on this thread at least three times a day as May approaches? :P

It’s funny how dead his thread is compared to Harvard’s.

@wildhoney
yah I’ve been checking the thread everyday too. getting nervous…and I just found out one Caucasian girl with a gpa of 3.7 from my school (she was in my program) got in last year. So im keeping my hopes up.

less than a week no!!! im excited although not expecting anything… I think most of my decisions are coming out next week… how bout u guys?

I really hope I get in. Im like 5 mins away from Yale! I can see it from the distance and I really hope that I get into it. When are the decisions coming…?

^ pretty sure we will be hearing sometime next week.

@Collegekid

Next week, as transfer9858 said. May 12 was what the admissions office told me. A frightening 7 days from now.

Ahhh New Haven. I haven’t been up in months, even though it’s only 1.5 hours and 14 dollars from New York City. Honestly, I wish I was there right now. I feel so much more at home at Yale than I do in the city, even though I’m not a Yale student. I have more friends there, people are more welcoming, more interested in other human beings… ah! Gotta stop thinking about Yale.

What’s the first thing everyone will do if they get accepted/if they get rejected?

If I get accepted, I’m going to call my parents and then my best friend who goes to Yale. And then post an obligatory Facebook status. And then I’ll go outside and go on a very very long walk around NYC smiling, and bidding something of a goodbye to the city with which I have a love/hate relationship.

If I get rejected, I’m going to make myself a big pot of tea and turn on Simon and Garfunkel. I’ll sit in bed relaxing and trying to muster up a little perspective. I’ll then take a nap, and then call my parents when I wake up and let them know the unfortunate news.

In both cases, I’ll have to quickly get over myself and get back to studying for finals.

What will y’all do? Let’s get some community going on this quiet, stress-filled thread!

hahah that sounds like quite a plan… if i get accepted il prob start crying, call parents and everyone one i know… then i wont be able to calm down for a while… i prob wont sleep that night so il have to take an ambien…if im rejected il prob be sad for about 10 seconds since i never expected to get in… and just really hope for penn since its on the same day…

will they send their decisions through email?

@kazzar

Yes.

Well sounds like a plan …hey everyone when they do send out the emails please blow up this thread so I can know not to check my decision email. I am so anxious. I really wanna get in!

just got rejected by harvard today. it’s alright, i’m actually a lot more ambivalent about it than expected - now just waiting for yale! i go to a top-10 school, but my university doesn’t have the program that i’m interested in, so i’m worried that transfer committees aren’t going to think that i NEED to transfer. i’m lucky enough to have the opportunity to get a great education, but my school is heavily slanted in the opposite direction of my academic strengths. should have figured this out LAST may!

so yeah…waiting…definitely the 12th? i kinda want to call admissions to check, but i’m afraid they’ll give me my decision! ahh! lol

I just got my Harvard decision today too… waitlisted, and not really sure what to make of it. I’m sorry to hear you were rejected. Best of luck for Yale.

I double-checked with the admissions office today. They confirmed that the email will arrive on, or right around, the 12th.

My daughter, a freshman at Vanderbilt, who applied to Harvard, Yale, and Columbia, just got into Harvard tonight! So-she is notifying Yale (and Columbia) tomorrow that she is withdrawing her application. Good luck to all of you!

Thanks! and tell ur daughter congrats for me!

Hello everyone
Just joined the thread :slight_smile:
I applied to just three schools and one of them came out two days ago
next one is Yale and I’m sooooo nervous!!
hope we have some acceptees here in CC

can I ask what majors everyone’s applying for??

Biology here

History of Science and Medicine and then hopefully the joint BA/MPH program. Anyone else applying from Canada?

The countdown is on! I’ve applied from Australia but i am realistic and am really waiting for a rejection letter. I think i am just excited to get a letter from Yale… :)

I hope we all get in. You know we should all go to church tomorrow and pray cuz we need it

wow @bronnieg dont be so negative!!! I’m sure you have some strong reasons for applying to Yale~

This thread is surprisingly dead compare to Cornell thread lol. guess everyone’s… busy studying…? (and praying I guess)
