Hey everyone! I'm a little shocked by the apparent absence of a dedicated 2011 transfer thread for Yale, here or in the transfer forum. I've applied as a transfer, and just heard that the official decision date is May 12. Who else has applied?

There have been Y transfer threads here and on the Transfer forum in past years. You can always start one.

I was thinking this could serve as the thread. Should I re-name it as something like “Official Yale 2011 Transfers Thread” ?

Ummmmm… shocked? How many of you are here on CC? five?

There’s only a few hundred tnsfr applicants each year.

According to College Board, there were 700+ transfers in some previous year. Not sure if that statistic’s totally accurate though.

So, am I all alone here then? I mean, I’m perfectly fine with a small applicant pool, but I can’t imagine it’s THAT small.

I’ve applied to transfer but don’t post much any more because I’ve forced myself to accept the fact that I am EXTREMELY like to be rejected seeing that the acceptance rate is about 2%. Moreover, I heard some people received interviews already even though interviews were not supposed to be part of the process, which means that those are likely the finalists and that I, someone who hasn’t received an interview nor any contact apart from a congrats-we-received-your-material e-mail, am most likely part of the 98%. I rather not be expecting anything if I get rejected because it hurts less and, if by some miracle I am accepted, it’ll be more joyful than if I expected it.

Where did you hear about interviews?

I know people who transfered to Yale who did not receive interviews.

Just confirmed with a transfer from last year: He did not receive an interview, and is pretty sure that none of the other transfers did either.

Were those people applying to the Eli Whitney program which customarily has interviews?

I applied as a transfer to other schools so it might have been in the other schools’ transfer thread that I saw transfer applicants talking about being interviewed, which, for that school, was unusual since it explicitly stated on its website that it does not conduct interviews for transfer applicants. But, since you confirmed with another transfer admit, maybe Yale doesn’t. All I know is that the chances are extremely slim and it’s too late to change anything so I might as well relax and forget about everything until that one day I check my mail and say to myself, “hmm… Yale e-mailed me… I guess this is the decision to my transfer application I sent in several months ago…”

Out of curiosity, did anyone receive any contact apart from the e-mail stating that common app was in and then the follow up e-mail stating either that your materials showed up or that some were missing?

ya we all got that email…

Yeah got those emails.

CollegeFreshman, are you thinking of the Harvard thread?

It might have been Harvard’s transfer thread.

yep, got that email and they said that im missing my instructor evaluation #2.

great.

where did you hear that May 12th is the official release date? usually they can’t determine the exact date until 1-2 weeks before decisions are released

I didn’t get any email from yale confirming that they received all my materials. I thought they send you a notification only when they are missing some parts of your application. Should I be worried?

I received a confirmation email that did not list any missing materials, so if I were you I would call the admissions office to check in— but don’t worry too much. Usually colleges are pretty understanding of confusion on this front, because usually no one is to blame.

Also, I heard May 12 from the admissions office when I called them. After confirming that they had received my midterm report, the conversation went:

“Also, do you know when w----”
“May 12th.”

@Outhere

THanks for sharing the info with us. So it’s their plan to send out the decisions on the 12th huh? I just marked 12th with a big exclamation mark.

Yup! I seriously can’t deal with waiting… what is it now? 17 days? Oh my. Anyone else eagerly waiting in anticipation? This thread is so much less active than, say, the Harvard thread.

Which I guess is a good sign for those of us who are posting? A good, but lonely sign.

For a while i was going crazy with anxiety, but today’s UCLA decisions helped chill me out.
