@ArchibaldTuttle Ah! Actually, I just got my FinAid package! So, it’s pretty much a done deal that I’m going to Georgetown. The FinAid package is about as much as we could reasonably expect. I likely won’t be able to make it out of these three years loan free, but my mom wants to make this work. So thank you to the most supportive mom in the world!

@Morphe Great to hear that you gota reasonable finaid package. A few of my friends saddled themselves with serious student loan debt and it sucks to see them still paying on it so many years later. Hope it works out!

While we’re on the subject of dorms, I’ve come to the realization that I may have to be in a dorm room for at least a semester. You see, my study abroad ends in early-mid August, and with classes starting in late August I’ll only have about three weeks to get my stuff packed, move across country, then get settled and find a place. This is pretty much the same situation at every college I applied to. This double-sucks because not only do I not want to be that weird old guy in the dorms, but having spent my military career in the barracks I know just how un-fun living with a roommate can be.

But who knows? Maybe Georgetown’s transfer dorms have some similar people. I suppose I shouldn’t get so down on it. Oh, and I have to get accepted first. Just a minor detail, there

@CelloDiego the housing they showed us for transfer students are pretty much typical. I believe the quad was the best of the options because it was one of the newer ones, but it hosts majority freshman incoming. So yeah… The town houses are amazing, even for group living buttt extremely difficult to get in at the last minute, if not impossible.

I asked the dean of admissions what’s the likelihood of getting an exception to the residency requirement (1yr for transfers) and he said if I lived within 15 mins it shouldn’t be too hard to get approved… So though I’m just at umd that’s like 35mins, I would have to move within the 15 min radius to get approved to live off campus 0.0

Max of two months to find an apartment and move everything I own… But like you said… If I get in

To anyone accepted already -

Has anyone heard back about which credits would transfer from our previous institutions?
I feel like for me that’s a really big part about my transfer decision in determining whether I choose to attend.

I got accepted to Intl Econ at SFS and I just contacted to Dean to inquire but I was just wondering if anyone had information about credit transfer notifications…

(On an off-topic note: I also find it absurd that Georgetown would send out rejections and acceptances over a three week period rather than just sending them out at once.)

@akilein I don’t think they send rejections over periods. Just in the form of a physical letter in the last wave. Meanwhile acceptances can still come in to June 1st and beyond if there is wait list movement.

The Georgetown 2014 Transfer Students fb group only has 48 members. So I think it is still possible that some people will hear good news this/next week.

Anyone hear anything?

Nothing today.

I’m still waiting on a decision too…

If the June 1st deadline is true, then they have to come out tomorrow or Friday

Nothing. Still waiting, but expecting a decision by mail.

So I see an email notification on my phone and then see the word “George” needless to say, I pissed myself lol

But, it wasn’t Georgetown. Just got an acceptance to GW. I am location limited due to my job, so I applied to just GW and Gtown. Positive side, at least I have options now…

@GunninMed Did you receive financial aid information with your acceptance to GW? I also applied but have yet to receive a notification. Thanks!

@hoya16saxa The portal says that financial aid packets will be available on June 4th. The way it’s stated seems to be for all students not just my own financial aid… I could be wrong though.

@GunninMed Thank you.

Did any rejections letters/emails came out already?

They say if you dance for the mailman as he pulls up, your acceptance chance increases by 50%. Good luck to everyone still waiting tomorrow!

@Luthsn what if it’s a choreographed dance while holding a sign with his name on it? Does that raise it to 65

At that point he may decide it is in his best interest not to stop

I pray to Vishnu, Allah, C’thulu, Goku, and all other gods real or imagined thatwe get decisions today!
