Official 2014 Georgetown Transfer Thread

Does anyone know if there is a wait list thread from last year and this year I can look at???

I still haven’t heard back either. I called this morning and they said that i should receive my decision by mail either today (didn’t happen) or tomorrow. So i’m waiting until I get the mail tomorrow, and if i still haven’t heard from them, then i’m planning to call the admissions office

To those of you who have received rejections/acceptances today, do you guys live near Georgetown?
I’m on the West Coast and I’m pretty sure that’s why I haven’t heard back yet. Haha.
Anticipation = driving me crazy!

I am just ready to hear already!

Anyone hear back about financial aid yet?

This is ridiculous. I just called the admissions office and was told that yes they do phone decisions today and they put me on hold. 5 stressful minutes later I was told all the admissions officers were in a staff meeting and that I should call back after noon today. Unbelievable.

just called, they will tell you over the phone. REJECTED
:-S I will be going to USC too

@allwaswell3‌ I got my financial aid decision on Friday. Day after acceptance. I accepted everything on myaccess already. The enrollment deposit was adjusted based on contribution and you can pay it right there. I went in yesterday to sign the enrollment and get housing exemption. Got a chance to talk with the dean he said they had some technical difficulties with the email system and some people were having delays with financial aid info.

-Btw just got the physical letter today

Is anyone still waiting to hear back?

Called today for my decision. Reeeejected. Although, now that this process has officially come to an end for me, I’m more convinced than ever that it really is kind of a crapshoot. Rejected from Georgetown and admitted to Stanford? That’s madness, that is.

@PaintTheSilence It could also be a matter of fit. Admissions committees are not shy about mentioning “fit” as a criterion for admission. Perhaps Georgetown thought you were academically competitive, and in a sense “worthy” of admission, but after looking at your essays, thought that maybe the environment at the school would be different than what you were looking for.

In a similar sense, perhaps Stanford thought you were a great fit for their campus and academic environment, and admitted you above other qualified candidates. I don’t agree with this criterion–I feel admission should be decided based on merit, and merit only–but it goes to show that decisions are made beyond just an applicant’s credentials.

does anyone know how many people are currently on the waitlist??

@Cyrano723 I’ve been in contact with the Director of Transfer Admissions, and he has not shared the number of students on the waiting list. He did, however, say that more news regarding the waiting list should come out around July 1st. This may include whether they plan to accept many, or a few.

@KingofSweden I contacted my admissions officer and she said that they would release decisions around July 1st. Do you know if a letter of interest is the only additional think we could send in??

How do you know who is your admissions officer? I also don’t know where to find the email of the Dean of transfer admission …

@Cyrano723 I submitted some additional recommendations (one personal, one professor) and an updated transcript in addition to my letter of interest. I also submitted an arts supplement but they said they could not accept it.

@mybestlove21 I was directed by my admissions officer (who contacted me for additional information during the deliberation process) to submit any further supplementary materials to the transfer coordinator, and she gave me his email. Forgive me on my part, I’m not sure if Transfer Coordinator correlates with the position of “Dean;” perhaps I should have been more specific.

Accepted UPenn, denied Georgetown ughh… even with the coaches help. Oh well.

@cstacker With an acceptance to Penn, I really would not complain. Not all of us have been that fortunate. I understand you may have had a particular attachment to Georgetown, but you still have a phenomenal school to go to in the fall.

I’m saying this with all due respect.

@cstacker Your life sucks so bad, it sounds like.

Does anyone know anything about the wait list? or if there is a wait list thread? How many people are on it, etc?
