Official 2014 Georgetown Transfer Thread

At my interview a few weeks ago, my interviewer told me that they do not see any part of your application save your name, intended year of transfer and your major.

i napped today and had a dream i got waitlisted. the anxiety is real.

I don’t know about you guys but Georgetown is the last Uni that I am going to hear back from.

mine too. and my top choice. so that’s pretty stressful haha.

Had my interview two weeks ago. It went… Okay I suppose. I wish I had elaborated more and in a more organized fashion. I was a little… Scatter brained it seemed with an inability to finish a thought because I rambled… My interviewer was really nice though and very encouraging. But yeah, Georgetown is my top choice and the last I hear back from. I am trying not to agonize because if it doesn’t end well, that just means I will just be more heartbroken.

Got contacted for my interview yesterday. I scheduled it for this Saturday, just down the street from the campus.
The bad news is that I’m thoroughly terrified by my interviewer; he’s the president of GU’s Graduate Student Organization. His LinkedIn profile is something to behold.

lol @Archibaldtuttle. I hope you weren’t logged into LinkedIn when you snooped on his profile. He’s totally going to know that you were stalking him. ;)

Btw: A lot of you are saying you’ll hear from G-Town last. Do they really make decisions that late? When are we supposed to hear back?

Georgetown is my top choice and the last one I hear back from too. We hear back no later than June 1 but my friend got in last year as a transfer and heard May 22 I think and then another one of my friends heard back exactly on June 1

Sure is a long time to wait.

How long did your interviews last?

If I haven’t been contacted for an interview as of now, does that mean I most likely won’t get an interview at all? And does that mean I don’t have a good chance of admission?

Mine was like 45 minutes

I would call georgetown and ask if I were you. I’m sure you’ll get contacted sooner rather than later but you might as well

@OregonRunner94 It is most likely, that they did not have any/enough interviewers/alumni in your area. Don’t worry, your stats speak for themselves. Or you can just call and ask.

My interview lasted a little over an hour.

@OregonRunner94‌ It’s worth calling the Admissions department and asking.
@ilikeparislol‌ Mine was almost exactly 30 minutes.

On that note, had my interview today. My interviewer was the poster child for a Georgetown student: involved, outgoing, articulate. I did my best to be the poster child for a Georgetown student too. I really tried to stress how much I want to go (it’s the only school I applied to transfer, since I’m already at a four-year) and that if they didn’t let me in I’d just apply next year anyway. We also discussed the merits of The New Yorker’s film criticism, blogs, and the Jennifer Lawrence phenomenon.

My interview was an hour and twenty minutes. I was just wondering if that was standard but it seems like it’s uncommon. We just ended up having a ton to talk about and even after the interview ended we still talked.

Was assigned an interview but in the wrong state! Hoping to get a new one assigned soon!

I had my interview a few weeks ago! GU is one of my top choices (probably my top, but I’m trying not to rank them too much in my brain just to attempt not to be too disappointed, just in case), so I’m excited to have had an interview. My interviewer was great, he had transferred as well and from the same school I currently attend, he does triathlons (i do too), and he was a gov major (I applied for political economy), so we connected really well and had a really good conversation. My interview was about an hour and a half, I had a lot of questions so it wasn’t just me talking for an hour and a half! Hopefully I came across well, I think at the beginning I was so nervous I was rambling, but once I collected myself it felt like it went well. I’m really excited to get my decision…I just want to know either way!

Had my interview today, and it went incredibly well! Didn’t last too long, but I felt I really expressed my background and interest in Georgetown in a thorough and articulate manner. Interviewer told me if it was up to him he’d admit me, and that he’d be sending a positive report to the admissions committee. Excited for my decision, given how nervous I was before the interview.
