@relaxer06 That would: A. Cost too much time and money for CB to do. B. Be unfair to most of us. I did not ask for extra time; my proctor and testing center gave it to me.
@relaxer06
Some variables to consider. What if the proctor lies about the time they gave (especially if they gave 25 minutes on both sections?) I’m hearing that they have to log the times though. But still… Perhaps they will call up random students as well. But that would be wasting time.
At this point I’m not expecting our scores to come out in the next few weeks.
Don’t all proctors mark down start/end time? maybe that would make it easier for CB to collect and see extent of damage?
But even if the ones who got extra 5 minutes retakes section 8 and 9 it is still not fair.
The questions will be different and it may be actually easier…
It is really a volatile situation… Anything can happen. It is not our fault, it is the Collegeboards…
just to confirm
A) |h(x)| = 0 right
B) it required more resources, which is the advantage of passage 1’s idea in the maoi transporting
C)it was E for the spanish one about why he is audacious
D) For the maoi one, what could be inferred from the part about how many people experimented on the statues?
I’m reading the subreddit right now. Even 2 minutes additional were given to some students because of the commotion it caused.
What I don’t understand is how proctors think they have the proper judgement to award additional time. Just follow the manual…
@aznboi4981 And anything they do is guaranteed to piss people off so this is definitely going to be a contentious issue.
Normally they’d make the affected people retake the tests, but this is a national thing - they can’t afford to do that, therefore it will be very interesting what they decide to do.
I’m interested as to what they will decide. The test is not standardized anymore, but will the College Board spend all the money to cancel and retake while also severely damaging their rep? Also, many have mentioned complete cancellations before, but only on international tests with an occurrence of cheating. With the unprecedence and volume of test takers, it will be interesting to see how this unfolds.
@Chrysanthemum14 The proctors were likely confused and just wanted to make sure the test was fair for everyone. I know I would certainly be confused if the test was marked 25 minutes instead of 20, since it is an official test and it isn’t expected of the ETS to make a mistake like that.
@y0l0lsen I also got 0 but would they throw that question out because 0 wasn’t an option in the first box? It was only an option in the last square/box
@388854239ewr You can say the same thing for every SAT…
Why won’t CollegeBoard just brush this under the rug, to avoid further denigration of its PR? I find it unlikely this will make national headline otherwise, and that is what CollegeBoard cares most about, not its customer satisfaction (as long as it’s suitable enough to keep current PR level).
@BenzeneRings I highly doubt they will sweep this under the rug. It will be worse for their PR if it makes headlines that students were given additional time and CB did nothing to address it.
@Chrysanthemum14 Easier said than done… Unfortunately, I understand how it could have been difficult for the proctor… I know my proctor was on the phone talking to the guidance counselor in charge. It was a though call for them.
Any one up for making one of those change.org petitions? lol
not sure how relevant this is, but… http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/education/2006-04-09-sat-suit_x.htm
At this point, I just am hoping for no cancellation. I feel confident about my scores and really don’t want to have to spend another 5 hours on a Saturday due to College Board’s own mistake.
@relaxer06 Relaxer, I think you can relax about having to retake the entire test. It would cost them way too much to re-administer the test to everyone.
@yousefk haha I am relaxed now and yeah I agree on that.
My proctor marked the end time on a whiteboard - which she wiped after each section. No start time was put on the board.
Only one of the students in my room had one of those 25 minute error test booklets, and our proctor transferred the question to someone else who called College Board who in turn informed them/us it was a mistake. So we only got 20 minutes each for the sections (#8-9).
Right now I’m just expecting College Board to cancel scores and offer free retesting - similar to what happened with the May incident of them losing student’s paperwork. There’s no way CB can score/edit the tests to where they could be standardized. Unless it’s possible for them to completely disregard sections 8 & 9.
I’m thinking there’s going to be some very, very long meetings on the way for CB officials as they try to figure out what to do and how to handle the press. #-o
It better not be cancelled whatsoever. I did not waste 5 hours for nothing; it was THEIR mistake.
