@swarleys Dude, thank you so much for this comment. I know it’s just a comment, but it really gave me perspective on this process and where I can go after this.
@karamuuu Absolutely! I know exactly what you’re going through, and it really does suck, but you’ll get through it. Honestly, I think my first year of college made me a much stronger candidate (and person), and if there’s hope for me, there’s hope for anyone.
That said, don’t get too hung up on it, really do try to be happy with the school you’re committed to, but this doesn’t necessarily have to be the end if you don’t want it to be.
You know what guys, it’s true. We can’t make our lives miserable anymore. I genuinely wanted to go to UChicago, not because of it’s low acceptance rate but really because it looks like Hogwarts and there are fantastic professors, philosophy centered classes, and awesome study abroad programs and internships. We did what was in our hand’s guys. I just reread all my essays and supplements from my app to UChicago and I can tell you I am proud of what I have accomplished and if admissions can’t see that, then it’s fine, I just know that I gave it my all and that is what matters at the end wholeheartedly. I look forward to my education at UC Santa Cruz this fall and maybe will apply for law school to UChicago. But that’s the end of it. I hope you guys do the same.
Great attitude Choco. I have no doubt you were well qualified. It’s just that for all of these highly selective colleges there is this element of “the luck of the draw”. Best of luck to you. I strongly suspect that you’ll do great things in your life.
Wait - so when are the class of 2022 waitlist decisions come to an end?
Hey everyone. Any news?
My counselor sent me an email saying that they weren’t taking anyone else off of the waitlist this year. Sorry, everyone.

Is that also in regards to the gap year option?
@barnmont2017 does that include applicants who opted for a gap year?
@Bluejay21 @Hizeus I’d assume so- the language is kinda unclear but that was my second LOCI and it was where I exclusively talked about what I was planning to do for a gap year.
Oh well, I am starting school at Bryn Mawr and honestly, with the financial aid offer I received, I couldn’t be happier.
Good luck to you all!
I was just offered a spot in 2022, so they are still taking people off of the gap year wait list
Congrats nina2020 - did u write a second LOCI expressing interest in a gap year or did they just offer it. And where are you from if you don’t mind me asking?
@nina2020 Did you send them a letter explaining what you would do during that gap year?
@nina2020 oh my god! That is amazing news!
Just emailed and got this response
“We are close to finalizing decisions for waitlisted students, and unfortunately it does not look likely that we will be taking any more students from the waitlist at this point. Rest assured that a final decision will be posted in your account soon, but I cannot give you more information as to when this will be. We appreciate your patience throughout this process.”
Taking this as a rejection! It’s almost over guys
My friend, you should really take a good look on the early posts. The Barnmout2017 just posted exactly the same email in this thread on 05/08, and Nina2020 was offered a spot just yesterday. I assume it’s a rejection to everyone who sends a email to ask and didn’t get in. For who can get in, they will still get in there, especially for the gap year guys… I know it’s frustrating you received a kinda rejection, but don’t destroy others’ hopes.

For international students, I spoke to the councillor and they said that they would not be admitting international students for the gap year option if they have applied for financial aid.
that’s quiet understandable, for the waitlisted students, the financial aid requirement makes it a far more crap shot…
