looks like i got a 103, as long as i didnt make any bubbling errors
i am very happy with that, my only goal was to qualify for AIME, although i made 2 dumb mistakes and could have had a 115

i will most likely get a 112.5, which kinda *es me off. Had I not made some retarded mistkaes (the largest sum of digits on a watch, ^%$&#$), I would have broken 125 quite easily, possibly above 130. But hey, i am a senior already and did well on AIME last year (5), so why give a * now.

What kind of USAMO index (AMC + 10*AIME) do you typically need to qualify for USAMO?

112.5 makes me mad... coulda broken 120 easy without dumb questions... i bet 112.5 will be most common score... and yes, how do I qualify for USAMO?

Normally about 200 and you are set.

I'm so excited I got a 134.5 this year. Now all I want to do is break 10 on the AIME again so I can do USAMO this time.

Thanks guy 'n gal. I figured since the test was being discussed that it would be too late to give it again. But I guess the B version is a different test for those that missed the first one.

Now that it's the fourth in America (almost the fifth in Taiwan), could someone post the answers they have to the AMC?

I took the test at a different school where I knew none of the students so I didn't have the capability of discussing the questions right after the test with other people and I've been on the edge of my seat these last few days waiting for the answers.

Thanks!!

I have just taken the AMC 12A....there will be AMC12B on Feb 14, do I need to take that one?

What is the difference between AMC 12 A & B?

There is really not much difference between the 12A and 12B. They're just different versions. You do not need to take the 12B, but you should. Your best score of the two is the one that counts.

Also, 200 is rarely enough to qualify for USAMO. The lowest cutoff in my time ('02-'05) was 210 in 2003. The others were in the 220s or 230s. It should come down slightly this year because the USAMO is being expanded from 250 to about 375 participants. However, I don't really think there will be that much effect on the cutoff score, since it seems to me like there are always a large number of people on the bubble for USAMO.

If you are in 10th grade or below, you can also qualify by having a certain AIME score, which is determined by the lowest AIME score among all the people that qualify via index score. Thus all that really matters in that case is your AIME score.

pfft. Dumb mistakes suck. Oh well -- there's always the 12B. Hahahaha.

I think I got 103. Which really makes me mad, because I made two dumb mistakes that dropped me from the 110 I really needed.

I think I'll be doing 12B problems hardcore for the next week.

What is an outstanding score on the AMC 12. I got a 115 and I am really happy with it. Is that a really good score, or just ok. And, where does that put me with other people in the country. Is that top 1000 for the nation?

Is there any way I can get the problems for the 12A contest, Im taking the 12B in a couple weeks and Ive kinda run out of practice tests

Thanks

Does anybody know what you need on the AIME to qualify for USAMOs?

Any one know where I can find info or status about the ranking of the contestants?

like the number of contestants between 140-150
130-140 etc...
the total number of contestants?
of schools?

Is it worthwhile to take the AMC12B after taking 12A?
What are the pros & cons?

122

Why 110? You plan on getting 11 on AIME?

Expect 220ish index

Answering some questions above:

There is no real "outstanding" score...anything above an 100 (which is quite low) places you in the top 5% of contestants. In the math community, anything above a 120 is considered a "good score". In the hardcore math community, a 150 is considered a "good score" -- just kidding =p though really serious math students generally expect 130+ or 140+.

If you want stats on how people do, go to the main AMC website: www.unl.edu/amc and go to their AMC 12 archives. It gives a rather detailed analysis of AMC participants.

It is of course advantageous to take the AMC 12B after the AMC 12A. This year was my first year taking both and I thought the 12A served as a nice "warm-up".

How do you calculate index? Is it AMC 12 score + AIME score * 10 ?

I needed 110 for the "Math Wall of Fame" at my school.

110+ (or 5 AIME), qualify for part II Michigan Math Prize, 5 on AP Calculus BC, 34 ACT/733 SAT
