**Official AP BIO 2012 Thread**

What was that Matugi?

Can someone please explain sex linkage? (How to identify it in a test cross/punnett square)
Oh, and lac operons?
Also, do you have to know the parts of the brain?

Alternation of generations are horrible

it is really necessary to know kingdom protista? well, it would be good to know the different algae, but do we need to know like protozoa and fungi-like protists?

Yeah, Kingdom Protista is the worst. So much variability.

@ 4801: Thanks for the advice - time to study harder.

@ zeRandomguy: I think they’ll have it in the question (e.g. hemophillia is a recessive sex linked trait… then you proceed with the Punnet squares and solve).

can someone explain the meselsohn and stahl experiment in plain english? I seriously don’t get this. I’ve read like a million explanations online but all of them talk in biologian…i need the experiment in dummy language
thank you :)

@russgenious - Uhhmm but what about sex linkage?

I AM NOT OKAY WITH THIS. D:

Guys, I’m going to fail so badly. Who’s cramming today, and tomorrow?

I’m cramming! I’m about fifty pages from finishing Cliff’s. Then I’m going to take a bunch of practice tests and review review review.

I’m just going to relax tomorrow by cramming for AP English Language.

I’ve already accepted I’m going to fail… I cannot memorize anything about plants, and I think it’d be ridiculous to expect that of myself…

This is why I like chemistry and physics more… there’s not so much freakin’ memorizing.

@zeRandomGuy: THANK YOU SO MUCH
@Mascara: lol you should be asking who ISNT gonna be cramming. most of us will be :((

@Matugi: ughh ap lang…its gonna be like one hella long SAT reading section

If it makes any of you feel any better, the average score (for a 3) on the frqs is 8-10/40–that’s two to three points per frq! Also, if you get 55-60 of the multiple choice correct (in addition to at least 8 points) you’ll probably pass. There’s a very nice curve for this exam.

@bwblue: do you know what’s needed for a 5? xD

For a 5, I think you would need atleast 75-80 MC and 20/40 on the essays. (5 points each essay)
I think I could pull off an 80, (been getting 85ish for the 4 prac. tests i took, which was 1994,1999,2002, and 2008) and possibly half on each essay.
I still don’t know anything about 2 of the human systems, anything about the 5 kingdom survey, or anything about half the labs…
Would it be better if I pulled off an all nighter today or the day before the test?

probs today, though you should try to get at least 2 hours a sleep. and take naps and eat lots of carbs tmr. try to sleep at midnight tmr night LATEST–being tired during the test can ruin all the hard work u’ve done this year

Don’t waste your time studying for AP Lang. I didn’t even take the course at my school last year, did no prep, went in, and got a 5. It’s easy peasy.

@zeRandomGuy: Thanks a bunch, still kinda worried about my impending doom on the FRQs…
Also, this was posted on this thread before, but in case you didn’t see it the Classification study sheet on this page helped me SO much with the 5 kingdom survey:

Probably should get the all-nighter in today because you can sleep in tomorrow morning versus being mentally out of it on Monday
