Official AP Biology Post-Test Thread

do u guys think a composite score of 70+ will be a four this year? i heard last year they toughened up the grading and the percentage of 1’s more than doubled :frowning:
i guessed on 23 questions and skipped 6, and i thought the FRQ was OK, but there were parts that i BS’d or skipped. im really worried cuz i think i either got a high 3 or low 4…

easiest test i’ve taken in my life

Seemed really easy. I might get counted off for the random animals I drew though. They were quite bad.

I feel like that was easier than what i expected to be. On most of my practice i’ve been getting low 5’s and those were way harder, so I’m hoping for a 5.

the mc was easy but some of the frqs were just like huh? i don’t know.

mc was fairly easy for an ap test, especially relative to the practice tests ive been taking. when the essays came around, i had a huge grin on my face. the essays were really good for me but i can see how they can be difficult for one who didn’t really learn in depth like our class did. i don’t want to jinx myself, but i mean…i got a 5.

damn… guys… do you know what i’m worried about?

It seems like everyone did pretty well… like many of you think you guys got 5s…
and i also think i really got a 5
but… what if the curve goes really up

i just hope all of you are the smart people who get 5s…
all of my classmates thought the test wasn’t that hard. i REALLY HOPE the original curve stays same (meaning over 60% = 5)

now i’m kinda worried about the curve

^ yeah… i know what you mean…

Remember, the CC community tends to be extremely intelligent and well-prepared. There are many kids out there who are currently crying over how hard the exam was. Don’t worry about the curve.

I can’t remember the exact percentages, but something like 20% get a 5, 20% get a 4, etc. That’s nothing compared to the 5% of people that get a 2100/2400 on the SAT. I think the curve might be a little worse, but nothing too bad considering a lot of people are always expected to get a 5. 20% of the 160,000 kids that took AP Bio is like 32,000, and we’re here on a message board for AP Tests, I think that shows how much time and effort we put into it so we should be in that upper half (4-5).

The MC was more difficult than the FRQs, especially 2 and 4. I answered about 60 MC definitively correct, 20 nearly sure, 9 partially sure, and 9 as educated guesses - so 2 blank.

I’m thinking 70-80 MC correct, for a raw score of 62.5-75, and 5-7, 8-10, 6-8, and 7-9 for the FRQs respectively, assuming they can read my handwriting. The second one was easy, as was the fourth, but I’m less sure about the first and third (despite my relative ease in answering all them.)

the test wasn’t bad
i probably got a 5… guessed on 5 and left one blank for the multiple choice and was rushed a little on the first essay which isn’t bad since it was basically a self study. We did nothing in class and got through 14 chapters in the Cambell’s 8th edition. So all of you worried about the curve should know that about 100 kids taking it at my school failed with passion.

yeah, this was not as hard as i thought i would be despite the fact that i fell into some traps for the MC, FRQ#1 was not a lab at all…i was more of how much you know about fish in waster…the physiology…haha…#3 was pretty tough in that our class didn’t cover much…all they new stuffs i studied during last week and this weekend covered like 15-20ish% of the exam…THank GOd…when will we know out results?

They’ll be mailing out the results around the third week of July.
I thought the test went really well!
I loved the FRQ’s, considering I didn’t study body systems at all HAHAHAHA… or plants… in depth. :)

I think I got 99/100 on the multiple choice, and I left one blank.

On the other hand, I left the first essay blank for time issues, but I wrote unbelievable amounts for all the other essays

For those worried about the curve -

Last year’s Bio test was really hard by many standards on CC, yet they changed the curve so that the number of 1s doubled from around 16% to around 34%, so don’t anticipate anything.

Yea I think we do get these scores around the beginning of July or end of June, so now we have nothing to do but wait nearly 2 months.

I wish I had studied more… the mc would’ve been easy IF I didn’t cram it all in one night. There were so many questions that I was really familiar with when I saw it but don’t remember the details.

Wow we have some real geniuses here. The MC was extremely difficult, I agree that the essays were pretty easy. 4 was difficult, I has no idea what to put, but I’m positive I dominated the first three.

Im expecting a 2 in all honesty. I skipped like 20 or so questions and I’m pretty sure I missed at least 30 to 40. I’m hoping for a three though.

Overall I believe this was a relatively easy test… Using the mean average formula
(MC Raw Score)(.6)+Essay Score Gives you a chance at 100 points
A relative average so far has been
61-5
49-4
37-3
29-2
anything else as a 1

my prediction this year will be
68-5
57-4
43-3
33-2

I did fairly well
96 MC answered only guessed on 5
1st essay as 8 or higher
2nd essay as 10
3rd essay as 7 or higher
4th essay (crossing fingers for 6 or 5)

Thus I need to get (68-31) 37 on my Multiple choice
37/.6=62 meaning that of that 96 I need to get around 70 correct.
Feel free to tell me if you think my projected curve is a bit rough but overall looking at previous years and talking with the other 14 at our school this was an easy test.
